NOBODY SHOULD "DREAM" THAT THEY'RE HATED

There's an old saying..."Keep your friends close and your enemies closer." Although I don't think of Republicans as "enemies"...they do oppose my Democratic... ultra-liberal...and progressive views.

From time to time, I listen to conservative talk radio or watch that cable news television network that used to label itself "fair and balanced."  Of course I never thought then - nor do I think now - that there's much, if anything, that they report that is "fair" or "balanced."  Apparently Fox News didn't think so either, as they did away with that motto on June 14th, 2017.

I recently tuned in to Sean Hannity's radio show.  And after doing so...I wonder if Hannity is on Donald Trump's payroll.

I am sick and tired of people...in and out of the conservative political world... accusing liberals of being "liars" and tagging everything we say as a "crock."  On a program that I happened to catch...those were just a couple of harsh words that were pulled out of - what I call - "The Hannity Hat of Hate."  It disturbs me that by regurgitating fiction, fabrication and falsehoods are how conservative commentators make their living.  But the age of "The Donald" has created a firestorm of off-the-air Hannity copycats and puppets.

Although Sean Hannity has trained his listening disciples to think with such reprehensible hatred, Donald Trump has led the way with his treacherous behavior and his vicious loathing for liberals.

With that in mind, I received a string of e-mails - not too long ago - that was straight out of the Sean Hannity playbook.  The individual who wrote me the following messages expressed vulgar verbiage about liberal Americans.

"Our Founding Fathers are rolling over in their graves over what people like Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, Elizabeth Warren and many more have tried to do to this country."

"I don't trust Barack, Bill, Hillary, Joe, Bernie, etc.  I don't think they believe in the same America I do, or care about what I believe America is and stands for, or what I think the Constitution means.  They are progressive liberals, which I believe is bad for America and the world."

"The left has driven this country into the ground and wish to destroy what it means to be America."

But as bad as the above remarks are...The Controversy reader who wrote them... got even worse and more hateful with the following comment.

"If we could get rid of the Democrats and the liberal judges, and start standing up for the Constitution, and let the Right and the President do what they want, America would be a better and safer place today."

To say..."If we could get rid of the Democrats"...is not only disgraceful, but it's evil.  To infer that Democrats don't stand up for the Constitution is sinful and blasphemous.  And for the person writing to me to state that America should "let the Right and the President do what they want, (that) America would be a better and safer place" is dictatorial.

The reader says he doesn't "trust" progressive liberal Democrats and that we are "bad for America and the world."  This is a person that wants me to think that he respects the U.S. Constitution.  Yet the reader says he doesn't "trust" progressive liberal Democrats and that we are "bad for America and the world."  He obviously does not realize that our Founding Fathers had opposing views.  They weren't called Democrats and Republicans, way back when, but in order to create a country in 1776...and to put a Constitution in force in 1789...historians say it involved monumental debates.  Not everyone was ever going to agree on everything.  There had to be compromise among the differing factions.  But the reader wants to "get rid of the Democrats."  How would he intend to do that?  Is it a threat to three former United States Presidents? Is it a warning to Democrats in Congress?  Is it an attempt to intimidate every Democrat throughout our nation?

On Sunday, September 3rd, 2017, there was a posting on Facebook...of a photo-shopped image of Hillary Clinton with The Clinton Foundation logo behind her and with a stack of cash money spread across in front of the former Secretary of State.  The printed caption read:  "WHY ISN'T THE CLINTON FOUNDATION HELPING IN THE TEXAS FLOOD RELIEF?"

I responded to the irresponsible person who posted the picture and message.  I replied by writing..."The Clinton Foundation happens to be very involved with the Hurricane Harvey victims as the Clintons have set up a special relief fund.  If you go to www.clintonfoundation.org you can read for yourself.  However, figuring that the person would not take the time - because she probably had no interest in learning the truth - I quoted part of what The Clinton Foundation has published on their website...including the headline that reads:  "The Response to Hurricane Harvey by Members of the Clinton Foundation Community, Ways to Support."

I ended my remarks to my Facebook "friend" by noting that I'm always amazed when Republicans and others who are..."Clinton haters"...want to post despicable messages that are clearly untrue.  I asked her to, next time, check her facts first...because she shouldn't be posting bold-faced lies.  The person immediately deleted my comments...and she unfriended me from Facebook.  I won't be speaking with her ever again.

Hate may be what buries America.  The Southern Poverty Law Center says there are 917 hate groups that are currently in operation throughout the United States. The list was compiled by the SPLC through research of "hate group publications and websites, citizen and law enforcement reports, field sources and news reports.  Hate group activities can include criminal acts, marches, rallies, speeches, meetings, leafleting or publishing."  To view a map of hate groups in the U.S.A., click on www.splcenter.org/hate-map.

Let us remember - that during the presidential campaign - Donald Trump incited violence at various rallies and elsewhere.

On November 21st, 2015 at a rally in Birmingham, Alabama...at least six Trump supporters - according to several news organizations - punched, kicked and tackled a protester from Black Lives Matter.  Trump screamed..."Get him the hell out of here. Throw him out."  The next day on Fox News...Trump claimed the man was "so obnoxious and so loud" that "maybe he should have been roughed up."

On February 1st, 2016 at a campaign event in Cedar Rapids, Iowa...Trump used cruel language when he told his audience that he was warned about protesters who might throw tomatoes at him.  "So if you see somebody getting ready to throw a tomato...knock the crap out of 'em."  Trump then gave his supporters an incentive to actually do what he suggested.  "I promise you, I will pay for the legal fees."

And on February 22nd, 2016 - at an event in Las Vegas, Nevada - Trump became verbally abusive towards a man who was disrupting his speech.  Trump's toxic tongue venomously spewed..."I'd like to punch him in the face."  Trump said..."In the old days"...protesters would be "carried out on stretchers."

Let us also not forget about Trump's offensive remarks about Mexicans and other Latinos...about Muslims...and about Senator John McCain - who is without question, an American war hero - but who Trump insulted by saying McCain was "not a war hero" because he "like(s) people who weren't captured."  McCain, during the Vietnam War, was imprisoned by the North Vietnamese for five years.  Captain John McCain is indeed a hero.

Yet with all the vulgarities and all of his deplorable comments...including demeaning and detestable obscenities about women...plus much more of the same about many other people...Donald Trump was still able to bamboozle enough voters in to electing him president.

Oh yes...we can't ever dismiss from our minds this infamous bit of narcissism by Trump...at a January 23rd, 2016 campaign rally in Sioux City, Iowa.  "The people...my people are so smart.  And you know what else they say about my people, the polls, they say I have the most loyal people.  Did you ever see that?  Where I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue (in New York City) and shoot somebody and I wouldn't lose any voters, okay.  It's like incredible."

Hatred from The White House...and from some Republicans in Congress...may reach reprehensible heights of bigotry within the next two months.  We all know that Donald Trump has been threatening for more than two years that he wants to build a border wall between the United States and Mexico.  But as I have written in multiple columns since Trump announced his candidacy...it's a wall that will never be constructed.  So instead...Trump may end former President Barack Obama's Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program - known as DACA - that protects undocumented immigrants.  As little children, they came to America with their parents.  These kids - many of whom are now adults - rightfully believe that the United States is their homeland.  For now, though...Trump is leaving it up to Congress to write a law so that 800-thousand of these so-called "Dreamers" will not lose their work authorization.  But in six months...if the House of Representatives and the Senate do not come together with an agreeable measure...then nearly one-million people will be deported from the only country they have ever called home. That being said...to trust Speaker of the House Paul Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, both Republicans, would be like trusting the fox to guard the hen house.  Ryan and McConnell have shamefully been on Trump's bandwagon since the beginning of "The Donald's" occupancy in The Oval Office.  And since Trump has already shown his colors about Latinos, I hope Congress will do what is right for the "Dreamers" and what is right for America...and that is to allow them to stay and to live in the United States with a path to citizenship.  If it was up to me, I'd make each and every one of them citizens today.

Americans overwhelmingly oppose the deportation of "Dreamers."  A poll by Politico and Morning Consult - released on Tuesday, September 5th - shows that 84 percent of Democrats...74 percent of Independents...and 69 percent of Republicans ...support immigrants being allowed to remain in our country...in their country.  Only 24 percent of Republicans...12 percent of Independents...and 8 percent of Democrats...think that "Dreamers" should be given their national eviction notice.

"Dreamers" are vital to our country in many ways.  They are an integral part of our economy.  "Dreamers" own companies and they give jobs to other Americans. Numerous "Dreamers" are true heroes.  They serve our nation in branches of our armed forces.  Some "Dreamers" help others as they are first responders.  Recently, many "Dreamers" risked their own lives to rescue victims in Texas and Louisiana following the Hurricane Harvey catastrophe.  And no doubt they will do the same, if needed, should Hurricane Irma be devastatingly tragic when it likely makes landfall, somewhere in Florida, within the next day or so.

On Wednesday, September 6th...former President Obama spoke out against Donald Trump's attack on the "Dreamers."  "To target these young people is wrong...because they have done nothing wrong.  It is self-defeating...and it is cruel."  And former Vice President Joe Biden stated on September 6th..."Let's be clear...throwing them out is cruel.  It is inhumane.  And it is not America."

On Tuesday, September 5th...Trump's words didn't match his actions.  "I have great heart for the folks we're talking about...a great love for them."

Are you serious, Donald?  Do you really expect me to believe you?  You have "great heart" and "a great love" for "Dreamers?"  Why the hell then are you threatening to throw them out?  You are heartless.

America is a land made up of immigrants.  The rights of all Americans is the bedrock principle of our Constitution and our Founding Fathers "dream" come true. So as with all born and naturalized American citizens...the rights of the "Dreamers" must be protected.  We are a nation that has always opened our doors and our hearts to people of all races, religions and ethnic heritages.  We should not lock up or lock out any law abiding persons...no matter where they come from...and no matter how they got here.  We should not ever be a country that builds border walls. The welcome mat should be at our front door to immigrants from all nations.  Unless you're a descendant of Native Americans...such as people from the Algonquin, Iroquois and Pueblo tribes...among other indigenous groups...then your personal family history is one that originated from countries other than America...and therefore...you are a descendant of immigrants.  "Dreamers" have essentially lived in the United States all of their lives.  America is...their country.  America is...their home.  Just as you and I..."Dreamers" bleed "red, white and blue."  So yes..."Dreamers" are Americans. They should never fear deportation.  Congress must allow all "Dreamers" the right to stay in America forever.  To do anything differently...would be...un-American.

And that's The Controversy for today.

  1. My comment s in 2 parts: Part 1:First Fox News dropped “Fair and Balanced” to distance itself from Roger Ailes who reportedly came up with the slogan. In my opinion they are much fairer and more balanced then any of their left wing competitors. One report recently had it that MSNBC, CNN, CBS,ABC, NBC reports were 90+% negative on the President close to the same on the GOP yet 80+% positive on the Democrats and the DNC, while fox news was 55-45 positive on the President and 60-40 negative on the democrats, that more fair and balanced then the mainstream media.
Republican and Conservatives in the most part do not hate liberals or progressives we just feel that they are wrong about almost everything in their platform. We don’t think they understand the meaning of the US Constitution as we do, the First Amendment , there is NO separation of church and state in the Constitution, show where it says it, the 2nd Amendment, the RIGHT to Own and BARE arms, States Rights, and the separation of powers, the left is wrong how they look at those and many other issues. I do believe that Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, Elizabeth Warren and many more are bad for America. Not as people but their policies.
I don’t believe your other reader who said "If we could get rid of the Democrats and the liberal judges, and start standing up for the Constitution, and let the Right and the President do what they want, America would be a better and safer place today " was evil or meant as you inferred that Democrats should disappear or something dastardly like that. We just want them to change their ways and accept the Constitution as it was written or amend it but not redefine it into something it is not. Would we be safer if the Democrats and Liberal Judges didn’t think and act the way they do, 100% I think we would be safer and a better place but we know that is not going to happen. I would never think or want us all to think the same but wouldn’t it be nice if we could all start at the same point honoring and believing in the words as written on the paper called the US Constitution.
I would like to know how President Trump “incited violence at various rallies and elsewhere” by telling security in Birmingham, Alabama on November 21, 2015 that they should “Get him the hell out of here!” the GOP presidential candidate said. “Throw him out.” I don’t know about you but I think most people at some point have said I’d like to punch someone, that’s not inciting violence, that’s being human.
You make the statement “Donald Trump was still able to bamboozle enough voters in to electing him President” .You don’t seem to understand that many if not most of those who voted for President Trump did not have him as their first choice. With all his flaws which there are many we still much rather have him then the other party’s candidate who was totally unacceptable.

    1. My response to the above reader's comments will be in two parts.

      PART ONE OF TWO

      1) The reason for Fox News dropping the "Fair and Balanced" motto is their escape and excuse...and yours. They realize that since MSNBC is the NUMBER ONE Cable News Network (see the ratings if you don't believe me) they need to try to get liberals and independents to watch them and since everyone knows that Fox is NOT "fair and balanced"...this is what they had to do. Otherwise my column stands as is.

      2) Your remarks about liberal and progressive Democrats are tragic. You can try to put your own spin on the comments I quoted in my column - which very well might have been from you...because I think I know who you are - but your remark that "We don't think they understand the meaning of the U.S. Constitution" is the same as Donald Trump telling James Comey that he "hope(s)" Comey will stop the investigation on Michael Flynn (which, in essence, was the Russia investigation). Trump's "hope" was an order. Your comment above is a sanitized version of the person who I quoted in my column - who said - "Our Founding Fathers are rolling over in their graves over what people like Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, Elizabeth Warren and many more have tried to do to this country." And..."If we could get rid of the Democrats and the liberal judges, and start standing up for the Constitution, and let the Right and the President do what they want, America would be a better and safer place today." The fact that you feel that the last quote I just repeated does not equate to being "evil"...makes you in agreement with the person who said it...who, as I said, may actually have been you. But you hide under the "anonymous" banner, so I will never know for sure. But the quote above certainly means that the person wants Democrats to - as you say - "disappear or something dastardly like that." You and other Republicans seem to think that your interpretation of the U.S. Constitution is correct and that Democrats interpretation is wrong. That, in and of itself, is wrong for Republicans to think. Democrats do not "redefine it in to something it is not." Who is to say that "the words as written on the paper called the U.S. Constitution" is only the way Republicans want to interpret them to mean? But beyond that...the U.S. Constitution was written 230 years ago. Obviously, the world and our nation have changed over those two centuries plus...and therefore...certain parts of our Constitution need changing...or, if you will...amending. Democrats abide by the laws of the Constitution. But there are certain points in those laws that Americans need to address...and Republicans need to realize...that our nation would be better served...with some revisions that bring that document in to the 21st Century and beyond. Otherwise, my column stands as is.

    2. PART TWO OF TWO

      3) I won't even give much of a response to your ludicrous remarks about Donald Trump and that his words do not incite violence. For a presidential candidate to say that he would "like to punch him in the face"...or..."so if you see somebody getting ready to throw a tomato...knock the crap out of 'em"...or..."maybe he should have been roughed up"...or any of the other despicable remarks similar to those that Trump made...they are NOT - as you say - "being human." If that is the kind of "human" that you are then I hope I don't know you. What Donald Trump has said...incites violence. And what you have said means...that you agree with inciting violence. And Trump knows that it is wrong because after one comment he even said..."I promise you, I will pay for the legal fees." So again...my column stands as is.

      4) According to multiple polls, Donald Trump has a 33 percent approval rating and dropping rapidly. And even if you want to only believe the ones that give him a 35 or 36 percent approval rating...that's not enough to win an election. This is proof that 10 to 12 percent or more of people who voted for Trump...wouldn't vote for him today. Bob Mueller's investigation and the congressional investigation are finding more and more evidence everyday that Trump obstructed justice and that he colluded with Russia. I'm not going to get in to a whole conversation about this as I have recently written columns about it and have been writing columns about it for months. However, yes...Trump did "bamboozle" voters. He was able to convince them that the Access Hollywood video was - as one person once told me - "acceptable locker room talk between two men." That's a bunch of crap. For someone who is a "celebrity" and a "star" to say that women allow him to "grab 'em by the p---y" because he is a "star"...that disgraceful remark should have destroyed Trump's chances for winnng the election. It proves to me that any man who voted for Donald Trump would say the same thing as Trump and would do the same as Trump...to any woman. And THAT...is sexual assault. And THAT...is a felony. And THAT...should have buried Trump's campaign and his chances for winning the election. And any woman who voted for Trump...obviously doesn't care if a man who is a "star" did that to her because he is a "star." And THAT...is sad. Trump's comment about John McCain...should have destroyed Trump's chances for even getting the Republican nomination. And many other remarks should have ended his campaign. So yes...Trump "bamboozed" voters. He somehow persuaded Republicans (and others) to think that because of his billion-dollar business empire that he would make a better president than Hillary Clinton. And look where we are today. The country is embroiled in a criminal investigation that is discovering evidence of corruption, obstruction of justice and collusion. And eventually it's going to all tie back to Donald Trump. Watch and see...this is Richard Nixon and Watergate times one-hundred. In other words...it's much worse than Nixon and Watergate ever were. You can say that Hillary Clinton was "totally unacceptable" to you...and to others...but she would have made a great President...and despite what she says in her new book and what she has said in interviews this week...I still believe that she may run again. I certainly hope so. And again...my column stands as is.

    3. The Constitution is real easy to read and if they want to change something once again read it, the way to amend it is right in Article Five. I didn't know consensual groping was a felony, the key words are they would let him, that is consensual! It maybe crude, it maybe wrong to do, it may disgust some people (me included) to use your stardom for sex but it is legal. And remember he never said he did grabbed anyone, he said they would let him, not that they did let him. You can say what you want but the fact is according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll in the end of July close to 90% of those who voted for President Trump said they would vote for him again in election against Clinton. I don't believe Muller find anything on the President and he will be President for 3 and 1/2 more years and if the best that the DNC can come up with again is Clinton or Sanders or Warren maybe for 7 and 1/2 years! God Bless America! Yes, I said the "G" word in the same sentence as America!

      Delete
    4. What does your first sentence above have anything to do with anything I stated?

Everyone knows what Donald Trump said - and what he meant - and what he basically admitted was that he has himself "grab(bed) 'em by the p---y." Below is the conversation - word for word - up to that "p---y" reference.

Donald Trump: "I moved on her, actually. You know, she was down on Palm Beach. I moved on her, and I failed. I’ll admit it."

      Billy Bush: "Whoa."

Trump: "I did try and f--k her. She was married."

      Bush: "That’s huge news."

Trump: "No, no, Nancy. No, this was [unintelligible] — and I moved on her very heavily. In fact, I took her out furniture shopping. She wanted to get some furniture. I said, 'I’ll show you where they have some nice furniture.' I took her out furniture — I moved on her like a bitch. But I couldn’t get there. And she was married. Then all of a sudden I see her, she’s now got the big phony tits and everything. She’s totally changed her look."

Then, from the Access Hollywood bus, they saw the person they were meeting - Arianne Zucker - and Trump and Billy Bush's conversation continued.

Billy Bush: "Sheesh, your girl’s hot as sh-t. In the purple."

      Donald Trump: "Whoa! Whoa!"

Bush: "Yes! The Donald has scored. Whoa, my man!"

Trump: "Look at you, you are a p---y. All right, you and I will walk out. Maybe it’s a different one."

Bush: "It better not be the publicist. No, it’s, it’s her, it’s — "

Trump: "Yeah, that’s her. With the gold. I better use some Tic Tacs just in case I start kissing her. You know, I’m automatically attracted to beautiful — I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything."

      Bush: "Whatever you want."

Trump: "Grab ’em by the pussy. You can do anything."

Anybody who voted for Donald Trump after hearing that exchange is - and I will use THAT word - DEPLORABLE. Yes...Trump's words are - to use your word - "legal." But the actions that the words describe...which Trump clearly admits to doing...is NOT LEGAL. That is sexual assault. That is a felony. Furthermore, those words are not the words...and the phrasing...that anybody should want represented by the President of the United States. And even though Trump wasn't President when he said them...nor was he even a candidate at that time...he still said them.

The Reuters poll you noted from July 2017 is way out of date and no longer applicable. After Charlottesville...and Hurricane Harvey...and so much more...Trump's numbers have sunk even more...and with a 33 percent approval rating, simple arithmetic shows that about 12 percent of the people who voted for Trump wouldn't vote for him again.

If you really think that Trump will be President for his entire first term then you are on drugs. He will resign the Office when Bob Mueller and Congress dig up the dirt that buries his presidency...when people in his own circle testify and provide evidence of obstruction of justice, corruption and probably collusion with Russia. Lawyers have already told members of the Trump Administration not to protect Trump by lying under oath, as it will ruin their lives. Oh sure, Trump could then pardon those people before he resigns (as he would never let himself go through impeachment hearings), but even with a pardon, people like Donald Trump, Jr., Jared Kushner and others would have their lives destroyed. So they will be more crazy than I think they already are if they do lie under oath. As for 2020, America will have a President who is a Democrat. I can't tell you who it will be...but Donald Trump will not be President at 12 noon on January 20th, 2021. The country will not allow it. He will be removed from Office in a legal and lawful manner long before that.

  2. Donald Trump is a bigot...and a racist. He hates Latinos...plain and simple. He proved that with his lies about Mexicans - and Latinos in general - on day one of his campaign with his announcement that he was running for president. That was June 16th, 2015. And he has continued to hate Latinos all along.

Yes, Congress needs to pass the "Dream Act." But Trump didn't need to sign an executive order that "Dreamers" will be deported if Congress doesn't pass a law. DACA's head is on the chopping block. Trump decided - on his own - that nobody new will be protected under DACA and that "Dreamers" who are currently protected will begin losing that protection...and their work permits...on March 6th, 2018. Hopefully Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi will be able to sway enough Republicans to pass the "Dream Act" as it should be. And then if Donald Trump signs it, he will be doing the right thing. As I wrote in my column, if it was up to me, all 800-thousand "Dreamers" would become legal citizens today. It has been said that Trump has turned DACA in to "a ticking time bomb for 800-thousand immigrants." Trump has put an end to the DACA program, which has permitted these unauthorized immigrants to live and to work in the United States. Trump's decision has put these 800-thousand people - who came to America as children - at risk of being deported. Their lives are in limbo for six months... and they are praying that Congress acts in their best interest...and the best interest of our country...by letting them stay. So my statement does in FACT have a "basis in truth." "In six months...if the House of Representatives and the Senate do not come together with an agreeable measure...then nearly one-million people will be deported from the only country they have ever called home." The above FACTS answer your question as to "where has anyone from the Administration said they will deport all the 'Dreamers' in six months?" With Trump's executive order, deportation of the "Dreamers" would begin in March of next year. ALL undocumented immigrants (NOT ILLEGAL ALIENS...they are not from Mars) should be granted U.S. citizenship...NOT just "legal permanent resident status" but U.S. CITIZENSHIP. However, if an undocumented immigrant has committed a felony then no citizenship. But as I said...ALL "DREAMERS" should be given citizenship TODAY.

You cannot spin my words. America's doors are permanently open. The doors are not a tangible item. There is no...physical "door"...so there cannot be a "wall." And there will NOT EVER BE A WALL between the U.S. and Mexico. It will NEVER be built.

  3. The US Supreme Court would have in most experts opinion in less then 6 months declared DACA un-Constitutional and ended Dreamers hopes for good. According to Websters dictionary: Aliens " relating, belonging, or owing allegiance to another country or government :foreign alien residents" they are illegal aliens.

    1. Your brain must be a child's toy top because it's people like you - Republicans, conservatives - who want to spin, spin, spin. I don't know what the U.S. Supreme Court would do...you don't know...and nobody else knows. Remember...most Republicans thought that the U.S. Supreme Court was going to bury the Affordable Care Act, yet the High Court supported it...not only once...but twice. And also remember that Republicans thought the Justices were going to rule against same-sex marriage and yet, the U.S. Supreme Court supported it and because the Justices did, gay and lesbian couples can legally get married in all 50 states. So don't try to make me dizzy by your spinning. It's pointless.

As for undocumented immigrants versus illegal aliens...don't quote me dictionary definitions. You want to paint decent, working, honorable people as if they were little green men with ray guns. But who knows? Maybe beings from Mars and other planets are more like E.T. - lovable, compassionate and tender - versus those diabolical creatures from Independence Day. My point is this...Mexicans, Latinos, Hispanics and people from countries other than the United States who live in America and who have not yet received their citizenship are "undocumented immigrants." They are not aliens. They may have some of the wonderful qualities of E.T., but they are people...just like you and me. And they are certainly not the beasts from Independence Day. To call undocumented immigrants "aliens" gives a connotation of something sinister and evil. It is wrong. Have a bit of decency and address them in a more "kinder and gentler" fashion (to use words by President George H. W. Bush in describing our "nation"). Instead, you want to make undocumented immigrants as bad people...and that is not only unfair...but very, very wrong.
