WHY IS IT NEVER DONALD TRUMP'S FAULT?

     As he has done for more than twenty months...Donald Trump has once again proven - that which I have written during the same period of time - that he is absolutely unfit to be President of the United States.

     In the closing remarks of my Wednesday, February 15th, 2017 column...I wrote..."For the sake of our country though...for the sake of the nation that I love...I hope that..."Mr. Trump"...cleans house...dismisses certain inexperienced people in his inner circle...that he realizes he needs help from professional politicians who know what they're doing...and that he sits down with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi...in a valiant effort to be a bi-partisan President...for all Americans.  America cannot handle another "long national nightmare."  We in the United States must all come together if we are ever going to withstand the turbulence and turmoil of the last two years.  But it will take a caring and compassion President to do that.  And I don't know if Donald Trump has it in him to be that President.  Prove me wrong, Donald."

     Only one day later...it is evident that Trump will not even come close to what I have suggested.  Trump promised during his campaign - and in these early weeks of his Presidency - to "drain the swamp."  Well Donald...draining the swamp is not working.

     It appears impossible for Donald Trump to be someone who can take criticism - constructive or any other...nor is he willing to open up the doors of The White House and let political insiders - who know what the hell they are doing - lend him a helping hand.

     On Monday night, February 13th...Trump fired retired U.S. Army Lieutenant General Michael Flynn as National Security Adviser.  And why?  White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer - on Tuesday, February 14th - told the world it was because Trump didn't "trust" Flynn.  But on Wednesday, February 15th, Trump strongly defended Flynn and, instead, pointed the finger of blame at the media...at the intelligence community...and at Democrats who Trump wrongly inferred are sore losers because Hillary Clinton isn't President.

     At a news conference with Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu... Trump - on Wednesday - put Flynn on a pedestal...instead of reiterating what his Press Secretary announced the day before...that due to an "eroding level of trust"...his National Security Adviser had to go.  And remember...Sean Spicer speaks on behalf of Donald Trump.

     Trump was emphatic when he responded to a reporter.  "Michael Flynn, General Flynn is a wonderful man.  I think he's been treated very very unfairly by the media - as I call it..."the fake media"...in many cases.  And, I think it's really a sad thing that he was treated so badly.  I think, in addition to that...from intelligence...papers are being leaked, things are being leaked.  It's criminal action, criminal act.  And it's been goin' on for a long time.  Before me.  But now it's really going on.  And people are trying to cover-up for a terrible loss that the Democrats had under Hillary Clinton.  I think it's very very unfair what's happened to General Flynn, the way he was treated and the documents and papers that were illegally - I stress that - illegally leaked.  Very very unfair."

     Throughout Campaign 2016, I labeled Donald Trump...egotistical...narcissistic... mentally unbalanced...and someone who did not have the temperament to sit behind The Oval Office desk.  And not to pat myself on the back - as I am not the arrogant, conceited windbag that Trump is - but my observations about Trump were recognized and revealed in writing...long before most other journalists - and other Americans - were doing so.  That being said...I was chastised early on...by many of my readers... and others I know personally...despite the fact that I was right on the money...and that I hit the nail on the head.  

     Donald Trump will never take responsibility for his mistakes - no matter what they are - but instead...he accuses others for his own missteps and blunders.  Trump is not capable of admitting that he was wrong.  In his mind...he never is.  After all...in the past there was nobody who would ever risk their job in The Trump Organization... to tell "The Donald" that he was out of line...out of order...or that he just plain goofed.  Trump was the boss...and if a person wanted to remain an employee at Trump Tower - or any other Trump property - one had to bow down, so to speak, to the mighty Donald Trump. 

     Trump is not used to answering to anyone.  And I really don't think he...thought it through...when deciding to run for President.  He's never had to have anyone, but himself...to sign-off on someone being hired.  Others may have been delegated to perform such tasks, but I'm sure Trump had the final word...if he didn't want a person on board his corporate ship.  Having a group of people who he hardly knows - the U.S. Senate - in a capacity to determine and ultimately conclude...who will be Trump's top associates - his Cabinet - is foreign to him.  There are no confirmation hearings at Trump Tower.  And I think Trump figured - that like his billionaire business career as a real estate mogul - whatever he said...would go.  That the word of Donald Trump...was gospel.

     It's time for Trump to end the chaos in The White House.  It's time for Trump to respect people who are qualified to serve and to counsel him across the board.  But Trump must be willing to take advice.  He cannot run our country the way he ran his campaign.  If he continues to do so, it will be the death of his Presidency...and a funeral of a nation.

     Trump seems to be oblivious to the fact that the U.S. government is operated by three co-equal parts...and that the two chambers of Congress...plus the Supreme Court...can - at times - overrule him...or actually tell Trump...what to do.

     So can Donald Trump handle that?  I'm not so sure he can.  As I wrote in my Monday, January 2nd commentary...I believe being President of the United States was merely an ambitious desire that Trump felt he needed to checkmark off his "bucket list."  Accordingly...I think Trump is irrational enough...that he could wake up one morning and say to himself..."I don't need this crap."  And it'll be back to New York City or Palm Beach, Florida in a proverbial heartbeat.  And that day is coming.  I can't tell you when...nor will I venture a guess, as it would be impossible to predict a timetable.  But Trump's demeanor is such...that he must always be able to do...exactly what he wants to do...and when he wants to do it.

     Sorry, Donald...but the United States of America is a democracy...not a dictatorship.

  1. Gary, first off let me say I don’t think the President needs to clean house, I think most of his inner circle are great picks, not all but most. As for Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, I think they need to go to the President and apologize for the way they have treated him, his administration and America. They need to say what can we do to help you help America! Maybe if they came out and said he is our President, not that they agree with all or any of his policies but that he is the President for all Americans and that they will work with him to get an agenda done for America, some may be theirs some may be his, but work with him. Right now the Democrats are a much bigger party of NO then the Republicans ever were with President Obama! America is tired of the infighting; both sides need to stop putting party before country (mostly the Democrats). Maybe if the media, the Democrats and I include you would stop the nasty hate filled speech, much of it lies or half truths and work at getting things done for America we would all be better off. I find in very funny that you make the statement about 3 co-equal branches of government when you fully supported President Obama when he said I: “We’re not just going to be waiting for legislation in order to make sure that we’re providing Americans the kind of help they need. I’ve got a pen and I’ve got a phone,” Obama continued: “And I can use that pen to sign executive orders and take executive actions and administrative actions”. Where was the outcry? Yes we have 3 co-equal branches but each do have many Constitutional powers that cannot be challenged by the other two branches. To give you a few examples, the President and or the Courts cannot over rules the Congress on a declaration of war, that is a power granted only to the Congress. The President Commander-in-Chief cannot be ordered by Congress or the Courts to send American troops into battle. I could continue but I think you get my point. We need to get back to doing what is right, fair and Constitutional and stop putting party before Country. The only way I could take your line “Sorry, Donald...but the United States of America is a democracy...not a dictatorship” seriously is if over the past 8 years you had at least once had said: Sorry, Barack...but the United States of America is a democracy...not a dictatorship”. Gary I don’t care how many times you say it, I truly believe much of your dislike (hatred) for President Trump is because you can’t deal with the fact he beat Hillary. You have stated many times you are a “progressive liberal” I am a conservative and an originalist (Constitutionalist) if the left can’t work with the President and come to some compromises, America is in for some hard times.

    1. You mean just like the Republicans did with President Obama? The GOP treated our 44th President as if he was crap. And many Republicans - not all, but many - both in Congress and across the country...treated President Obama in a disgraceful fashion because he is black. That's right. The bigots didn't want Barack Obama to be a successful President. President Obama never used the profane, offensive, disrespectful language towards the media and towards other Americans that Donald Trump has used. Just read my column, THE WACKY WORLD OF DONALD TRUMP and maybe...just maybe...you will understand that America is being led by a loon who will wind up in a rubber room long before his term is up. I don't know if you saw Trump's recent press conference, but if you didn't...go on- line and watch it. Perhaps then you will understand some - if not all - of my remarks.

      As for your accusation about my "dislike (hatred) of Trump"...I have made the following statement in other columns and in numerous responses to readers for months. I am NOT a hater. I do NOT hate Donald Trump. And my reasons for not wanting him as President has nothing to do with Trump's alleged electoral vote win over Hillary Clinton. As I have written in the past, Democrats - including myself - never felt, as we do with Trump, with other Republican Presidents. We would not have reacted, as we have, if it was any one of the other 16 candidates who ran for the GOP nomination in 2016...and if another candidate had won. It is all because of THREE things. One...(as I stated above)...because of Trump's offensive and rude insults and his abhorrent demeanor throughout the campaign, which has continued over the last three months. Two...his proven false statements (lies) and his narcissistic, dictatorial ways. And THREE...and this is most important...because we still feel that Trump and/or his staff, but with his awareness - were involved with Vladimir Putin and the Russians to affect the outcome of the election so that to sway voters not to vote for Hillary Clinton. If that is ever proven definitively - which it will be, one way or the other - Trump will then be impeached, convicted and removed from office...or he will resign before that happens. If there was no Russian hacking and if James Comey had not written his letter to Congress, 11 days before the election, then Mrs. Clinton would have won...hands down. The proof is in the pudding that more and more Americans everyday are wishing they had not voted for Trump, but that they had voted for Secretary Clinton. With yesterday's Gallup Poll showing that Trump only has a 38 percent approval rating, this is a man who the vast majority of Americans do not want as President.

      It is going to be up to Donald Trump to change his ways if he wants most people in the United States of America to support him. Unfortunately...I don't think he can do anything differently than he has all along. Therefore, I predict he ends up in a booby-hatch...and sooner rather than later.

    2. Gary, you did what most Democrats do when they can’t justify their position, play the race card! America is not as racist as you and the left like to make it out to be. In my view the Democrats make more things about race then the Republicans. There is racism in America but not to the level you like to claim. Not everything that happens to a minority person is about race. As I said the Democrats are the bigger party of NO! I saw President Trumps press conference and felt it was classic Donald Trump he really nailed the liberal media and most of them deserve it. They care more about getting a story and attacking the President, they don’t care if it’s true or fair or if it hurts America as long as it helps their liberal cause. You can claim all you want that it is not about beating Hillary but I believe it is, the Democrats like you never had the feeling of such entitlement as you did with Hillary. You believed she was owed the White House, it was “her turn” well you were wrong, get over it. You totally disregarded my comments about 3 co-equal branches, once again because you could not defend your position. Again you like to tell stories, with no facts or evidence, to your claims of President Trump’s involvement with Putin or the Russians have no basis in fact. As for Director Comey I believe that he was trying to correct a mistake he made earlier in the year, when I believe he submitted to the pressures or threats by the AG and the White House not to refer the case to a Grand Jury or to recommend directly an indictment . As for the Gallup Poll, polls can be manipulated; one story published says that over 60% of the respondents to Gallup’s new poll were from four states, New York, California, Massachusetts and Illinois, that’s not a sample of America, it is a sample of liberal Democrats. I don’t believe that your statement that President Trump is headed to the “booby-hatch...and sooner rather than later” is correct or fair, it once again is leftwing name calling!

If you truly can be honest to yourself, to me and to others in the United States and say that "America is not as racist as you and the left like to make it out to be" then you must be living on another planet. Are we better than we were in the 1960s - when I was kid - sure we're better. But only to a certain degree and only in certain cases. A large amount...a significant amount of Americans...are racists. They are bigoted against blacks...against Latinos...against Asians...against Muslims...and against Jews - not to mention certain people are prejudiced against everyone from poor people to gays. I'm a Jew...and I have personally been the victim of anti-Semitism...from childhood to today. I have observed the Jew haters in the world...and I have felt it. And if you believe that the magnitude of racism and bigotry in our country is untrue then you need to open up your eyes and clean out your ears because you're either not seeing and hearing what is going on...or you don't want to so you are simply ignoring it. It's either all THAT...or you too are a racist.

      I've already commented on Donald Trump's recent press conference in my column THE WACKY WORLD OF DONALD TRUMP. Trump is a loon who will, at some point, end up drooling in the corner of a rubber room. He will literally end up in a booby-hatch.

      You can think what you want, but it's not at all true. I think I can speak for most Democrats when I say that none of this has anything to do with Hillary Clinton not being the 45th President. This is all about Trump and his despicable behavior, his rude and disrespectful demeanor and his offensive ways from day one of his campaign through the present. If ANY OTHER REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE HAD BEATEN HILLARY CLINTON...DEMOCRATS WOULD NOT BE FEELING AS WE DO. We would not be writing what we write. We would not be marching. We would accept that person as we have with Reagan, Bush and Bush - not to mention other Republicans previously. It's all about Trump. Nothing more. Nothing less. Just Trump. And I never believed that Hillary Clinton was "owed The White House" or that it was "her turn."

      You will eat your words when it's learned that Trump and/or his campaign staff were involved with Vladimir Putin and the Russians, whereby they hacked in to the Democrats' computers and illegally meddled in our election in an effort to sway voters not to vote for Mrs. Clinton. Donald Trump will not last through a four-year term. He will be impeached...or he will resign...or his life will end (which I do not hope, as I don't wish harm or bad health to anybody), but that the stress of the job may kill him.

      James Comey should never have issued the letter he did 11 days before the election. It was against Justice Department rules and it should not have been done.

      It amazes me that Republicans like you will put your own spin on anything and everything...including, if not especially, polls. The Gallup Poll is respected worldwide as the most prestigious and regarded polling company on Earth. Trump's polling numbers are headed for the cellar. Trump is doomed. 38 percent now...30 percent later...and who knows...maybe in to the twenties. There are many Republicans in Congress who are against Trump. And even his own Supreme Court nominee made comments opposing some of what he has done.

      Booby-hatch may not be where Trump is headed. It just may be worse than that.

    4. Gary, I feel very sorry for you if you believe that America is “a large amount...a significant amount of Americans...are racists”. I’m not sure you know what the word means, it is not racist to say you want to stop illegal immigrants from coming or staying here, it is not racist to want to protect America from ISIS and Islamic terrorist, it is not racist to put a hold on immigration from the seven country’s that the Obama Administration declared were incapable of supplying acceptable background information on their citizens wanting to come to America. We have had a black President, black AG’s, Senators, Congressmen, Governors and leaders of all races, religions and sexual orientations, that doesn’t happen in racist countries. Is there racism, yes, is it out of control, no. Is it acceptable, no but as long as there are people there will be some hate and playing the race card as you and the Democrats do, just feeds the fire and causes more hate. If you feel America is such a hate filled bigoted country how can you claim that it is so great? Anytime anyone say “Make America Great Again” you start your rampage that America is and always has been great, but we’re filled with racist and hateful bigots. The two don’t go hand in hand. No, I don’t believe you; it is a lot about that he beat Hillary. As for Jim Comey, I believe it will eventually come out about the pressure (orders) from the White House and the AG that stopped any chance of an indictment, and the deal made between Bill Clinton and Loretta Lynch on the tarmac speaks for itself. That is in my opinion why he bent the rules after they broke the rules and maybe the law. It was not my spin on Gallup it was a published report. Just remember on November 8 not one poll had Trump winning. Your comments about Judge Gorsuch are false and came from a proven liar Sen. Richard Blumenthal, who never served in Viet Nam and lied about it and lied about Judge Gorsuch. Gorsuch’s comments were a generalization about the past few years about comments about the judiciary "demoralizing" and "disheartening" including despicable comments about the Supreme Court by President Obama at the State of the Union Address. The President is not headed for the booby-hatch but if the Democrats don’t get over it soon many of them will be un-employed come November 2018.

      I noticed the initials at the end of the comment above. If you are the "WD" that I know, then I am very surprised by your words.

      Maybe you have not experienced the racist bigotry, prejudice and anti-Semitism that I have...either through personal observations or being the victim of...but unless you are living in an underground bunker with no access to anyone else in the world, then you must be witnessing racism throughout our country. So why don't you admit it? Blacks and Latinos are still treated poorly by a significant amount of people, Jews are still thought of by many people as being "cheap" and a substantial amount of people hate Muslims. I, myself, have overheard people say, "I Jewed them down." And that's not the half of it. I hear and see bigotry and racism all across the United States...and frequently.

      The Oval Office occupant has hired people who are lovers of the Ku Klux Klan. Yes, there is lots of racism in America. And this has nothing to do with keeping terrorists out of our country.

      I had thought that when our nation overwhelmingly elected a black President - not just once...but twice - our country would dramatically improve with the issue of racism...but unfortunately, it only made matters worse. Certain members of Congress didn't want President Obama to succeed because he is black. If you don't believe that, then I am the one who feels sorry for you. There has never been a Republican Congress before with members who have said the things that certain Senators and Congressmen said about President Obama. No Democratic Congress ever said those things about a Republican President. The answer was - regarding President Obama - because those members of Congress didn't want a black President to begin with...and they certainly didn't want an African-American President to be successful. Well, they failed. President Obama was successful. He could have been more successful if people like Mitch McConnell were willing to work with him.

      Other Democrats and I do not "play the race card" as you and other Republicans want to fall back on. Maybe if you and other Republicans opened up your eyes and ears and paid closer attention to the world around you...you'd see what is actually happening. Democrats do not "feed the fire." If anything, Donald Trump himself...and those who are Trump lovers...are the ones who are "feeding the fire."

      The "Make America Great Again" slogan by Donald Trump is offensive towards Americans and towards those Presidents, Senators, Congressmen and plain old citizens who know and believe that America is and has always been great.

      I won't even dignify your answer about Hillary Clinton. As the old saying goes..."Asked and answered." But you don't have to "believe" me. Democrats, liberals, progressives - which is me - know that being against Donald Trump has absolutely nothing to do with Hillary Clinton not being President.

      My "claims" about Trump are not "unsubstantiated." He is a delusional, pathological liar and a narcissistic, misogynistic, xenophobic and homophobic loon who has no business occupying The Oval Office. And if you don't believe that Trump or any of his staff did anything illegal with Russia during the campaign, then you are dreaming. I can't be sure that Trump was involved, but somebody was...and there will be proof coming.

      I will not comment anymore about James Comey. Asked and answered.

      Your remark about President Bill Clinton and Attorney General Loretta Lynch is mere hate. Hillary Clinton has never done anything illegal. There is no evidence whatsoever that she committed any crime at all. And why do Trump and people like you continue to bring up the election and Mrs. Clinton? To do so, makes Trump, you and others who are Trump supporters, very shallow.

      You and other Republicans always seem to make accusations about others when a Democrat makes a comment you don't like about a Republican. Judge Gorsuch's own people stated that Gorsuch made the comment about Trump and the courts. Wait and see what happens if and when Gorsuch is confirmed. If he is...he just may end up being better for liberals...than conservatives.

      As for November 2018, it will be a landslide for the Democrats in the Senate and House. So Trump - if he's still in office by then - better get his act together. Otherwise, nothing will ever get done in this country.

      Donald Trump is a loon...which really is an insult to ducks. And I like ducks. Ducks are good. Even Donald Duck. But not Donald Trump.

    7. YES, I’m that WD. Maybe I am lucky; I have never personally been a target of anti-Semitism. I have talked with many friends that are Jewish or African-American or Hispanic-Americans, just so you know they all prefer to be called Americans, most have said that they are very aware that there is racist and bigots out there, they do feel it is much, much less then the media and the left like to claim. I have said the same thing; it’s out there but not as bad as the media and the left want you to believe. You claim that stereotypes are racist, they may not be true but in the most part they are not racist. Racist requires hate. Is everyone who uses the term “cheapskate” a racist or a hater, it is a stereotyping phase that comes from “cheap Scott” from the belief that Scottish people are frugal or “cheap”. I think your comment that the President hired “lovers of the Ku Klux Klan” is a disgrace and a lie. Once again you and the Democrats love to play the race card and create hate. You continue your hateful claim that some members of Congress didn’t want President Obama to succeed because he is black, once again you play the race card, they didn’t want him to succeed because of his politics, what he wanted to do and in many cases did was and is bad for America. Facts are facts, we know that the Democrats and left can’t get passed the fact that Clinton lost. As for James Comey I believe the truth will come out someday showing that the White House and the AG pressuring, ordering or even threatening the head of the FBI into not pushing for an indictment. There is no hate there it is just what I believe to be the facts. As for Bill Clinton and Loretta Lynch, it speaks for itself any other lawyers may have been disbarred for what they did. Your comments about Judge Gorsuch is are factually incorrect, I’m being nice. As for 2018, if the left would care more about America and our Constitution and help get things done that are needed, but they will not, they care more about party. I feel if that continues the GOP will have 60+ seats in the Senate and hold their majority in the house after the mid terms in 18. Just to correct you Loons are not ducks.WD

      Unlike me, yes you are very lucky that you have never been the subject or the victim of anti-Semitism. I too have friends whose ethnic or racial heritages are Latino/Hispanic or African-American. Some do prefer to be recognized as we all do...as Americans. Others do prefer the classification of Latin-American or African-American. Be that as it may, all citizens of the United States are indeed Americans. Furthermore, it is good that you have not witnessed the amount of racism and bigotry that is truly prevalent throughout our country, but believe me, this is NOT a media-created problem. And it certainly is NOT in the imagination of liberal and progressive folks like me. This is not - as Donald Trump insists on calling it..."fake news." There is definitely too much racism in the United States. And yes, there is definitely too much hate in our country.

      You try to equate somebody being called a "cheapskate" with somebody saying they "Jewed them down." I would be terribly offended if someone used my religion as a means of saying that I was cheap. However, that being said, anybody who calls someone a "cheapskate" is indeed being offensive. The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines cheapskate as "a miserly or stingy person; especially one who tries to avoid paying a fair share of costs or expenses." Cheapskate is indeed a word of hate. As for your origin of the word, it's not exactly as you described it. However, this is the exact origin of the word, as published by various publications. "The meaning of skate in cheapskate seems to come from British slang and refers to chap or fellow. It is based on the Scottish term skyte which means a contemptible person and this, in turn, comes from an older term that means excrement. Etymologically, therefore, cheapskate really means 'cheap feces' or, if you prefer, 'cheap sh-t.' Cheapskate first appeared in print in the late nineteenth century, 1896 to be precise." So yes, if somebody calls someone a "cheapskate"...that is certainly an offensive word and one that denotes hate.

      You cannot honestly tell me that Trump did not hire "lovers of the Ku Klux Klan." One of his chief senior advisers (Steve Bannon) is known for his association with that racist, anti-Semitic, bigoted organization. For you to call that "a disgrace and a lie" means your knowledge of Bannon is not accurate. Others in the Trump Administration - including the attorney general, Jeff Sessions, is quoted for using racial slurs in his past. This has nothing to do with "playing the race card." Democrats - including myself - are not making such statements to "create hate" but to prove to those like you who are apparently unaware of the man you voted to lead our country - Donald Trump.

      Yes, I do feel that certain members (not all), but certain Members of Congress did not want President Obama to succeed because he is black. It was not his politics. If that was the case then why did Republicans get along with Bill Clinton. And Democrats in the House and Senate got along with Ronald Reagan, George H. W. Bush and George W. Bush. The reaction to Trump is solely because of Trump and what he has said and done throughout his life and throughout the last 2 years.

      You can continue to believe that Democrats "can't get passed the fact that (Hillary) Clinton lost." But that is not true at all. We just don't want Donald Trump who is going to destroy our nation and get us in to a devastating war. I believe he wants one in order to show Democrats that he can "win a war." That's what he always says and that's what I think he's going to do. And despite the fact that only Congress can "declare war"...we have seen in the past, where a President can still order a "police action" where war is never declared.

      You can believe what you want, but there is no proof and there will never be proof that Hillary Clinton committed any crime or illegal wrongdoing. Therefore, you will never see anyone ever stating - as fact - that President Obama "pressured" or "threatened" James Comey not to indict Secretary Clinton. Comey was wrong in his letter to Congress and that was a chief reason why Mrs. Clinton did not win the electoral vote.

      As for Bill Clinton and Loretta Lynch...you can believe in your conspiracy theory, but that's just plain nonsense.

      My comments regarding Judge Gorsuch are accurate. Live with it.

      2018 and 2020 will be the years of the Democrats. Count on it.

      As for loons not being ducks, you're just being picky. You understood what I meant.
