My column today takes a break from politics...to, instead, share with those of you - who may have missed this year's Grammy Awards broadcast - a poignant and uplifting anecdote.  And even if you had no desire to watch the entire show...or have no interest in the music being represented...I think the special acceptance speech that I will be referencing...will put smiles on your faces.  Not because of the clothing...or lack of clothing...but because of the stimulating words of encouragement...that were expressed by a pair of talented musicians...whose hopeful vision...has become a reality.

The sequence of events were as follows.

Nick Jonas presented the nominees for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.  And then the tension thickened when Nick was about to announce the award winner.

NICK JONAS:  "And the Grammy goes to...Stressed Out - TWENTY ONE PILOTS."

There were cheers and applause from the audience at the STAPLES Center in downtown Los Angeles, California, as Josh Dun and Tyler Joseph...pictured from left to right... walked up on to the stage to receive their gold gramophone trophy at the 59th Grammy Awards on Sunday, February 12th, 2017.

Airing live on the CBS television network and streaming live - to a worldwide audience - via the Internet on CBS.com...Nick Jonas congratulated the winning duo.  Tyler was handed the Grammy, as he and Josh were not wearing any pants.  Instead, they accepted their award...wearing tuxedo jackets, shirts, ties...and their underwear.

The following is the charming story that Tyler tells...about a time - not too long ago - when the guys were starting out their music career...and how one night...while watching the Grammys on television...they had a dream...that has now come true.

Tyler ends the sweet memory with a truly inspirational moment - which I have highlighted below - and that I will remember forever.  It is applicable to all of us...no matter what the reason...but for anyone who has that ambitious yearning...for success...and happiness.

TYLER JOSEPH:  "This story...it starts in Columbus, Ohio...and...it was a few years ago.  And it was before Josh and I were able to make money playing music.  And...I called him up...and I said, hey Josh, you want to come over to my rental house and watch the Grammys?  And he said, 'Yeah.  Who's hangin' there?'  I said, couple of my roommates... just come and watch the Grammys with us.  And...as we were watching we noticed that every single one of us was in our underwear.  (Laughter from the audience)  And seriously, Josh turned to me - and we were no one at that time - he turned to me he said, 'You know, if we ever go to The Grammys, if we ever win a Grammy, we should receive it just like this.'  (Cheers and applause from the audience)  So...not only is this amazing but I want everyone who's watching at home to know...that you could be next.  So watch out, okay.  'Cause anyone...from anywhere...can do anything!  And this is that."  (Cheers and applause from the audience)

Congratulations to Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun for their well-deserved Grammy Award.
