What is going on in the mind of Donald Trump? This is a man who has to always be on top...has to always be first...has to always be the boss. He practically demands that everyone address him as..."Mr. Trump." Even when he hosted his NBC reality television show, The Celebrity Apprentice... the entertainment stars who competed on the program...called him "Mr. Trump." Nobody referred to him as "Donald."
It is obvious to the nation...and to the world...that Donald Trump must suffer from narcissistic personality disorder. He is a megalomaniac whose egotistical manner is beyond troubling to the majority of people in the United States. As I have been stating for quite some time... and President Obama articulated on Tuesday, August 2nd...Donald Trump "is unfit to be President."
There are reports that influential Republicans close to Donald Trump are planning an intervention with the GOP nominee... and key allies to Trump - including Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani - are apparently going to have a powwow with him this week...in the hope that they can get the billionaire businessman to "cool his jets" and to watch what he says and does throughout the remainder of Campaign 2016. Such a meeting is long overdue.
But for a person who must be at the center of attention...and not in a negative way...and someone who is always giving the orders...how will Donald Trump react when other people will basically be telling him what he needs to do as the Republican nominee?
If Trump is totally..."off the wall" - as he has given so many of us that impression over the last year or so - along with his numbers dropping in the polls...and a multitude of people...from the press...to most Americans...and even many Republican dignitaries saying that his campaign ship is sinking...is the real estate mogul at risk of having a mental breakdown? Could Donald Trump snap...and go completely off the deep end? If so...with much discussion about his mental health...Republicans should never have nominated Trump...let alone anybody actually vote for him for President. We cannot give this man access to the nuclear codes.
Now I'm not a psychiatrist...just a concerned American...so the questions I am asking in this column are just that...questions. I am not making any kind of clinical diagnosis because I'm not educated or trained in that area...or, for that matter...in any field of medicine. However, if Republican Party elders lay down the law, so to speak, and - to a certain degree - give Trump an ultimatum regarding his obnoxious temperament and offensive behavior...will he flip out and perhaps be a danger to himself...or to others? Could Donald Trump do physical harm to himself...or individuals close to him?
Trump's mental health has been joked about in the media for months. But in a commentary I wrote nearly eight months ago... on December 19th, 2015...I called Trump a warped maniac...and compared his dictatorial demeanor to that of Adolf Hitler. That's seven months before Senator Bernie Sanders tweeted - during Trump's July 21st acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio..."Is this guy running for President or dictator?"
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, August 3rd, Democratic Representative Karen Bass of California expressed her opinion that doctors need to perform a psychological evaluation on Donald Trump. Congresswoman Bass tweeted that "Medical professionals must step up and demand a mental fitness test for the Republican Presidential nominee."
If RNC chief Priebus...Speaker of the House Paul Ryan...Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell... and other senior members of the Republican Congress...are smart...they are saying to themselves..."Let's forget about this election...let Hillary win...and let the chips fall where they may until 2020."
The bottom is dropping out for Donald Trump...and more and more politicians and voters...will be jumping off his chaotic caravan. Trump can be in denial and tell everyone - as he did on Wednesday, August 3rd - that his campaign is "united." But the American people, as a whole, are surely realizing that Trump's campaign is in crisis.
I am confident that Hillary Clinton's coattails - in the November 8th general election - will be long enough...so that the Democrats will take control of the Senate come January 2017. There is also the possibility that the majority in the House of Representatives will go back to the Democratic Party. Therefore, Republicans should be focusing on doing whatever they can to make sure none of that happens...but to come to the conclusion...that Donald Trump's Presidential campaign is imploding...and that he has little chance, if any, of defeating the Democratic nominee. The GOP, therefore, needs to be concentrating on Capitol Hill...not The White House.
And that's The Controversy for today.

Would you mind telling us where you got you degree in psychiatry which gives you the training to make your diagnosis? As for your comments about Trump being only called “Mr. Trump” I have seen him on many show’s (mainly FOX News) where the hosts has always called him Donald, Rudy Giuliani was on with him and called Donald. Yes, now that he is the GOP nominee most give him the respect and call him Mr. Trump no different than calling Hillary, Madam Secretary or Secretary Clinton. For you to quote Congresswoman Bass who is a far left wing Democrat who from her history believes all conservatives are mentally unstable means nothing. You call him a “megalomaniac” and “egotistical”, I wouldn’t deny that, but don’t you think his opponent is also, so is her husband and probably more than half the people that have run for president over the years. Are our choices this fall very good, NO they are not so we must pick the one who is the least dangerous to our country, our life style and who will do the most for our economy and our safety, in my opinion that has to be Trump. Hillary will continue the disastrous Obama policies that have given us the slowest economic recovery since 1949, low GDP growth and brought us and the world ISIS. Don’t start blaming President Bush for ISIS, it is a democrat lie. You have been sent 3 time all the things President Bush and his administration did after the Clarke memo to prevent an attack and you have declined to print it. You as do the rest of the biased left wing media refuse to do anything or print anything that would prevent you from telling your lies.
ReplyDeleteAs I very clearly noted in my column, I am not a psychiatrist, but I am a concerned American. As for your remark about Donald Trump being called "Mr. Trump" versus "Donald"...long before his run for President, he has always been addressed on television as "Mr. Trump." Just go back and watch any of his own shows. So it has nothing to do with "respect" but instead it has to do with him being "the boss" and being a power hungry, egotistical megalomaniac. And no, neither Hillary Clinton or "her husband" - the former President of the United States Bill Clinton - fit in the shameful category of Donald Trump. President Clinton kept our country safe and with a wonderful economy. Mr. Clinton left office leaving America in great shape and President George W. Bush destroyed it. Hillary Clinton is in no way "dangerous" for our country. Donald Trump is. As for our economy overall, you are so so wrong. President Obama took us out of the worst economic recession (thanks to President George W. Bush) since the Great Depression. I don't know who you are, but you need to get your facts straight. The Controversy publishes EVERYTHING that readers submit UNLESS there is profanity or threats of any kind. However, I am unable to publish links to web sites. So if you sent "3 times" - as you say - "all the things President Bush and his administration did" etc., etc. - it was never received at this forum. So don't tell me that The Controversy "declined to print it." It was never received. You are a HATER of the Democrats. It is so obvious and so disgusting. GBD
DeleteSending the 4th time, lets see if you get it or just claim you didn't!
ReplyDeleteRichard Clarke, his and other intelligence was acted on: July 5, 2001 - The FAA issues warning, specifically the threat of "using explosives in an airport terminal." July 5, 2001 - President George W. Bush requests more information about the recent upswing in terrorist threats and "chatter" from National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice. July 10, 2001 - The CIA warns the White House of possible attacks against President George W. Bush during the July G8 Summit in Genoa, Italy. July 18, 2001 - The FAA issues another warning to airlines concerning possible terrorist attacks. July 31, 2001 - The FAA issues another warning to airlines advising that "terror groups are known to be planning and training for hijackings." August 6, 2001 - President George W. Bush receives a CIA report about al Qaeda and the possibility of airline hijackings. The warning is passed on to embassies and other overseas facilities. August 16, 2001 - The FAA issues an alert about "disguised weapons." Airlines are alerted the terrorists might use common objects such as cell phones or clothespins as weapons. August 23, 2001 - CIA director George Tenet, concerned that an al Qaeda attack is imminent, orders the CIA to search their files for leads. An urgent cable is sent to the FBI, State Department, Customs and INS, alerting them to the CIA's concerns about Nawaf Alhazmi and Khalid Almihdhar. After the INS reports that Almihdhar re-entered the country on July 4, the FBI begins searching for them. September 4, 2001 - The national security advisers to President George W. Bush approve a draft version of a plan to combat al Qaeda. It includes provisions for $200 million to arm the enemies of the Taliban. The advisers plan to present the draft to President Bush on September 10, however the president is traveling and does not see it. September 10, 2001 - The National Security Agency intercepts two communications from Afghanistan to Saudi Arabia. One says, "Tomorrow is zero hour," and the other says "The match begins tomorrow." The messages are not translated until September 12. These are the facts as stated in the bipartisan 9/11 report.
Just like most left wing democrats, blame George Bush. You guys forget 9/11 and what it did to the economy, you forget the tech bubble that burst in 2000 but hit the economy in 2001, you forget the housing bubble that burst in 2008 due to bad regulations setup during and caused by the Clinton administration. But it is all Bush’s fault. You are a true Bush hater !
ReplyDeleteNo, it's you and other Republicans who forget that President Bill Clinton gave us a country with peace and a nation with prosperity. You forget that President Clinton finished two stellar terms as President and Commander-In-Chief with no wars and with an economy that was first-rate. You forget that President Clinton left office with a surplus. And you forget that President Obama has created more jobs in the last 8 years and saved the auto industry while killing Osama bin Laden and getting 20-million Americans healthcare - including people with pre-existing conditions who were unable to get health insurance before the Affordable Care Act. And you forget that President George W. Bush put the United States in the dumper. You forget that if President Bush had listened to certain advisers...there might not have been a 9/11. So don't tell me what I forget. It is you and other Republicans who are the ones with a short memory. I hate nobody...not even President Bush. I'm just amazed that Republicans will not acknowledge his faults...when he screwed up so badly. GBD
DeleteI don’t forget President Clinton; he did quite well in many things, but let’s remember also that when he took office we were at so called peace. Also much of the prosperity was to Clinton’s credit that he was willing to work with Newt Gingrich and the Republican Congress, he compromised unlike our current President who says my way or the highway! As for your comments about President Obama, he stole GM from the rightful owners (the bond holders and creditors) to give to his union supporters, he helped many get health ins but at what cost, higher rates, higher deductibles, higher co-pays, less access and less doctors, not a good deal to most of America. There should have been a better way, but Obama and Pelosi wouldn’t even talk to the GOP, they did it by themselves and didn’t care who got screwed. By the way Seal Team 6 killed Osama bin Laden. As for your hateful comments about President Bush, I don’t believe that he to use your words “put the United States in the dumper” as I said before: the left forgets 9/11 and what it did to the economy, you forget the tech bubble that burst in 2000 but hit the economy in 2001, you forget the housing bubble that burst in 2008 due to bad regulations setup during and caused by the Clinton administration. I wouldn’t say President Bush was perfect no president is, no person is, but I don’t believe he “screwed up so badly”. Can you tell me why you call people who criticize Clinton or President Obama “haters” yet when you say meaner and more untrue things about President Bush, you say you’re not a “hater”!
ReplyDeleteYou're another reader who I seem to be going around and around in circles with so I'm done with this subject after this response. We were at peace with President Bill Clinton. For the economy with President Clinton, it is true that he worked with Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich and the Republican Congress, but Speaker Gingrich and the GOP were willing to work with President Clinton. President Obama has tried for 6 years - since the House and Senate became Republican - to work with then Speaker John Boehner and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, but McConnell came out 6 years ago and said his main goal was to make President Obama a one-term President. And therefore, he and his cronies were not going to agree to do anything with President Obama. And when Mr. Obama won his second term, the Republicans in Congress were not going to allow President Obama to have any successes with them. Therefore, Congress sucks! And that is why they have an approval rating of next to nothing and President Obama has a 55% approval rating. So the fault lies with McConnell and many of the racist bigots in Congress who were against an African-American being our President. Don't say that's not true, because it has a lot to do with it. Hopefully, over the next few months, Speaker Paul Ryan will realize he needs to cooperate and compromise with the President. But I won't hold my breath. As for the Affordable Care Act, I'm "sick" (no pun intended) of talking about this issue. President Obama and then Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi did compromise with the Republicans otherwise there would have been no law. Unfortunately, some of the things that would have made the bill/law better were not agreed to by the GOP. But the law is better than nothing. It was the Republicans who "didn't care who got screwed" not the Democrats. And yes, President George W. Bush did indeed "put the United States in the dumper"...in many ways. So therefore, Mr. Bush did indeed "screw up so badly." I am not a "hater" because I am stating facts. You and the Republicans make up stories and tell lies about President Obama, President Clinton and Hillary Clinton. But when the former Secretary of State beats Donald Trump on November 8th, you will see that Americans realize how wonderful she will be as our 45th President. One more thing...if the so-called "buck stops here" with a President when something goes wrong...then the same must apply when something goes right. It is true that Seal Team 6 physically killed Osama bin Laden, but it was President Obama who gave the order and - along with his team - planned out the entire operation with the military. As a result...President Obama gets the credit - as President and Commander-In-Chief - for killing bin Laden. Just as any other President would get the credit for winning a war...President Obama deserves the praise, kudos and applause for killing bin Laden. We are done here. GBD
DeleteP.S. - There is one additional tidbit I want to include...and I've said this before to several readers. You Republicans always seem to want to get off topic. My column above was all about Donald Trump and his mental health. Yet, you wanted to make your comments about President Obama, President Clinton, Hillary Clinton and all the Democrats. Don't use my forum to spew your venom. In the future, if you want to respond to my commentaries, stay with the subject I have written about...and not make it your outlet to put your own toxic spin to criticize the Democrats. If you or others do that, your comments won't be published. Remember, stay on topic. And with that, I thank you for reading The Controversy and for your responses. GBD
DeleteDon’t worry, not only will I not comment I will not read you so called commentaries any more. I am sure you will not publish this, you don’t have the guts to. You should put on your home page this is an unpaid endorsement of the left wing Democrat party and the lies it tells America. Just one example: there was NO COMPROMISE with Obama Care not one Republican voted for it. Pelosi even bragged at one point that she didn’t let the GOP in the room! You lie about President Bush, you lie for Hillary and Obama. You are as bad as the left wing bias media, Hillary lied on Fact News Sunday and The Washington Post's Kessler awarded her “four Pinnochios, FactCheck.org declared her claims “false ” and PolitiFact gave her a “Pants on Fire” rating for a lack of truthfulness. But you will lie for her as does the main stream media and help her bring down our country. She doesn’t believe in the Constitution wants to take away our Rights and wants to make this Country a welfare state with the people dependent on the Federal Government. Obama started our decline and she with the help of sheep like you and other anti-constitutionalist will try and finish it. To prove your bias 4 times you were sent facts about what President Bush and his administration did after the Clarke memo to help prevent a terrorist attack and you have not published it because it would prove you to be a liar.
ReplyDeleteWhoever you are...you have no clue as to what you're talking about. First of all, I publish every reader's comments unless there is profanity or threats made. I said to you - or to others - that I do not publish links to other Web sites. I never...that is NEVER...received any "facts" - or, for that matter, lies...from you or anybody else about "what President Bush and his administration did after the (Richard) Clarke memo." Therefore, since I never received anything, it could not be published. You are so very wrong about President Obama and Speaker Pelosi not compromising with the Affordable Care Act. If they did not compromise...then what happened to all of the other points in the bill that were removed because the Republicans would not sign it if those parts were in it? I am not lying about President Bush. Everything I have stated is true. And I don't need to lie for Hillary Clinton and President Obama because there's nothing to lie about. As for Secretary Clinton and the e-mails - I refuse to discuss that issue anymore and Mrs. Clinton today, August 5th, 2016 talked about it again and stated that FBI Director James Comey testified she was "truthful" with her answers to the Bureau. You've stated that you won't be reading any more of my commentaries, that is your choice. But there is nothing you can ever send me or tell me about President Bush that proves me to be "a liar." Everything I have stated about Mr. Bush is true...and there is proof to back it up. We are done here. Period. GBD
