The question I pose in the title of this commentary seems to me to be a plausible inquiry to make. As much as Ted Cruz does not want Hillary Clinton to be President...I think it's quite possible that he wants less... for Donald Trump to occupy The Oval Office and be Commander-In-Chief.
If Cruz endorses Trump for President - after the presumptive Republican nominee horribly and horrendously offended the Texas Senator's wife and his father - Cruz would be the world's biggest hypocrite. Therefore, I don't doubt that the former GOP candidate will soon commence a third party campaign... knowing fair well that he can't win The White House...but simply to prevent Donald Trump from having any chance whatsoever...of being handed the keys to the Presidential mansion.
That being said...and whether Cruz runs as a Conservative Independent or not - as I have always written - I am confident that Hillary Clinton will be the Democratic nominee... and that she will be elected the 45th President of the United States.
As for the Republicans...they can do what they do best. Nothing.
And that's The Controversy for today.
