OBAMA OBLITERATED OSAMA AND HE WILL ICE ISIS

After reading the commentary below, please express your own thoughts.  Instructions on how to do so are written at the bottom of this column.  Thank you.

This forum is not designed to prognosticate.  I have, however, for the last thirteen months - since she announced her candidacy for the Democratic nomination - stated my confidence that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will be elected the 45th President of the United States on November 8th...but that...is a strong and desired belief.  Now, though, I do have a prediction to make.  Or - if you prefer - call it an intuitive speculation.

It was five years ago - earlier this month - that U.S. Navy SEALs killed the evil monster who was ultimately responsible for the murders of 2,996 innocent souls on September 11th, 2001.  The raid - which resulted in the rightful execution of Osama bin Laden on May 2nd, 2011 - was a clandestine and classified mission that senior officials from the Obama Administration have stated was in the top secret planning stages since the beginning of that year.

But despite the death of the notorious bin Laden...the radical militant organization that he founded and led - al-Qaeda - along with the terrorist group that was born out of it - ISIS - have, since 9/11, senselessly and tragically slaughtered thousands of innocent people throughout the world.

As a Democrat - and specifically as a staunch supporter of President Obama - it disturbs me when Republicans - and others - criticize the President for not being more aggressively hawkish against ISIS.  But like the surprise invasion of the bin Laden compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan...and the successful slaying of the then-"Public Enemy Number One"...I predict that President Obama - sometime prior to the 2016 Presidential election - will take down and destroy ISIS.

And when President Obama leaves The White House on January 20th, 2017...it will be agreed by the overwhelming majority of Americans - and to people all around the globe - that he has performed his duties as President...and as Commander-In-Chief... with superior excellence.  Therefore, Mr. Obama's legacy - among many other outstanding achievements - will not only be - to quote Vice President Joe Biden - "Osama bin Laden is dead and General Motors is alive" but "ISIS is incinerated and the Earth is safe."

President Obama has made phenomenal progress throughout his two terms.  But the President is the first one to say that he...and we...have a lot more to do before he makes his final exit from The Oval Office.  That being said, however...look at Mr. Obama's accomplishments since being sworn in as our 44th President.

In January 2009, America had been losing 800,000 jobs a month and unemployment was on its way to 10 percent.  Now, the jobless rate is 5 percent and more than 14-million new jobs have been created...including nearly 900,000 new manufacturing positions...after a decade of industry decline.  Plus - for the first time ever - more than 90 percent of Americans have health insurance.  And these are just a few of the masterful triumphs by this President...who has proven to be a distinguished and impressive leader...not only of the United States...but of the free world.

I recently received an e-mail from President Obama...in which he stated, "Right now, cynics and obstructionists in Congress want to roll back the progress we've made by playing on fears and letting special interests write their own rules.  We need to keep standing together, making our voices heard, so that we can continue investing in the future and build on what we've already accomplished."

So I suggest Democrats... Independents...and yes, even Republicans...need to have faith in a great man, who has already shown America - and other nations - that he has helped to make our country - and our planet - a better place for everyone.  And when he annihilates ISIS...the naysayers - who have habitually tried to cast gloom and doom - can join those of us...who have believed in him since he was first elected seven-and-a-half years ago...by giving President Barack Obama...a deserved salute...and a standing ovation.

And that's The Controversy for today.

  1. Where do you get your information, a democrat Ouija board? Obama did not “obliterate” Osama, Seal Team 6 did. Yes Obama approved the mission, a mission developed by the CIA and Military intelligence, not the White House. I don’t know what you don’t understand; Obama has not done enough against ISIS. His and Hillary Clinton’s policies help ISIS grow from a 500 person “JV Team” into an 80,000 man fighting machine they are today. As for President Obama’s so called accomplishments, once again you must be using that Ouija board. The bulk of the reduction in the unemployment rate is due to the reduction in the labor participation rate, as for the 14 million new jobs, most have been lower paying and or part time. Is one of his accomplishments the adding 19,000,000 people to food stamps since he took office, an increase of 1,800,000 this year alone? The highest rate ever, almost 47 million people. As for his health care law, which by the way another Federal Court this week ruled part of it unconstitutional, it may have add people to health insurance but at what cost? 85 % of people have seen their rates go up thousands of dollars, their deductibles on average have tripled and co-pays have doubled. Who did it help who has it hurt (more hurt then helped). What happened to, “if you like your plan, you can keep your plan” and “If you like your doctor you can keep your doctor” both lies! You and the left call the “right” and Congress cynics and obstructionists, they are neither. They are the patriots trying to protect our Country from the dangerous and destructive policies of this President and the left wingers. I don’t believe he deserves any salute or ovations, I will be glad to see the day he is out of office and we hopefully get a person who acts more in the best interest of this country instead of his party and respects and upholds the Constitution. Something we have not had for the past seven and a half years. And by the way please stop quoting Joe Biden “Osama bin Laden is dead and General Motors is alive", as I said it was the Seals that killed bin Laden and as for GM the Obama administration stole it from its rightful owners and gave it to the Unions.

    1. First of all, let me crush like a bug your comment about the Affordable Care Act and what a federal district judge - who was a Republican appointee - did on May 12th, 2016. The ruling is not as big a threat to the health care law as two earlier challenges by Conservatives, both of which were killed by the United States Supreme Court in 2012 and 2015. The first would have overturned the law and the second would have done away with tax credits in many states, but neither was done. I will quote White House press secretary Josh Earnest, who says of the decision, “It’s not the first time that we’ve seen opponents of the Affordable Care Act go through the motions to try to win this political fight in the court system. It’s unfortunate that Republicans have resorted to a taxpayer-funded lawsuit to re-fight a political fight that they keep losing. They’ve been losing this fight for six years, and they’ll lose it again.” As for your Ouiji Board comment, I simply made a prediction that President Obama will do - as he did to kill Osama bin Laden - and that he will destroy ISIS before the November election. I do - if you read my column clearly - give credit to the U.S. Navy SEALs, but if "the buck stops here" when a President (any President) does something wrong, then the same has to apply when a President does something right. The facts are documented about President Obama's accomplishments. You and other "Democratic, Obama, Clinton Haters" can criticize all day long, but you cannot validate your loathsome remarks. I'm sure you will be glad when President Obama leaves The White House, but you'll be sad when President Clinton - both President Hillary Clinton...and again President Bill Clinton - move back into The White House. Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton - and Bill Clinton too - are people that have devoted "the best interest" to our country and they will continue to do so. And each of them "uphold the Constitution." As for Vice President Biden's quote, well...that's a fact. There's no disputing it. But your comment that "the Obama Administration stole (General Motors) from its rightful owners and gave it to the Unions"...well...the President's actions were the best for the automobile industry, the best for the workers, the best for GM overall, and the best for our country. What a shame that you don't seem to understand that. GBD

    2. You can crush all you want. But what the Judge said was the Constitution says only Congress can appropriate funds, not the President. Congress has NOT appropriated funds to subsidize the ACA, period that is a FACT! As for GM what you claim was best for the “worker” (sound like a socialist) may not have been right under the law. Both your comments and many more with this President sound a lot like Richard Nixon when he said “ well, when the president does it, that means it is not illegal”.

    3. With both your comments...what a shame that you obviously don't want to help those in need...and those who deserve. That being said, President Obama did do right by GM, by the unions, by the workers, by the country. As for the Affordable Care Act...it's the law of the land. After the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled it to be...time and time again...my suggestion to you is to...get behind it. GBD

  2. You have a lot of nerve, where did I say I didn't want to help those in need? Just like Obama and Hillary twist the truth and just plane make up stuff. The Union deserved nothing, they were the cause of the problem with GM and the whole car industry. As for the ACA I will never get behind a plan that cost me personally over $5000 a year extra in higher premiums, higher deductibles and higher co-pays and going higher every year. I also lost 2 doctors that I have seen for over 10 years, that will no longer take my insurance. Two of Obama's biggest lies and he has some big ones, you can keep your plan and you can keep your doctors. The Democrat way screw the working people and give stuff away so the people owe you and vote for you. Heck with the law and heck with whats fair.

    1. When you make statements about doing away with the Affordable Care Act, you're saying that those in need should not be helped. I didn't "twist the truth." I commented on your remarks. If that's not what you mean, then say so. As for General Motors and the Union...it is the Union that helps the workers to make money...and more money. Remember something else - and this is true - if the Republican Congress had agreed to everything that President Obama wanted in the Affordable Care Act, he would not have had to compromise on issues. You shouldn't be blaming the ACA on the President. Congress passed the law and did so across the aisle. If Republicans had agreed to other certain issues in the original bill, it would have been better. I agree that the ACA needs improving, but it's better than nothing for people who never could afford health insurance and for people who were not allowed health insurance because of pre-existing conditions. Hillary Clinton will make it better. As for your statement "Heck with the law"...the Affordable Care Act is the law of the land...and saving the automobile industry - as President Obama did - was fully within the guidelines of the law. 3. First I never said get rid of Obama Care, I said it has hurt more people than it has helped. Second you need to get your facts straight again; there was no compromise with the republicans on anything. If Fact Nancy Pelosi, then Speaker of the House didn’t even allow the republican in the room when they were writing it, she didn’t allow any republican amendments, nothing. The ACA is all Democrats. The House passed the Senate bill with a 219–212 vote on March 21, 2010, with 34 Democrats and ALL 178 Republicans voting against it. In the Senate ALL 39 Republican Senators voted against it! It may be better than nothing for could not get health INS but at what cost to the rest of us. It is not fair that I have to pay so much more and lost doctors and get a lower level of care. Remember his two big lies, you can keep your plan and you can keep your doctors.

    1. I'm done with this conversation. It's obvious we are not going to see eye to eye on anything regarding President Obama and Secretary Clinton. I refuse to debate issues when I know what has been reported in the past by the Obama Administration. GBD

  4. As usual when you cannot defend your statements because you are presented with the real facts you end the conversation.

    1. No, I know the real facts. I'm ending the conversation because I don't want to waste any more of my time discussing issues when I know what I am saying is true, based on factual information from President Obama and Secretary Clinton. And for me to continue butting heads with you, going 'round and 'round in circles, makes no sense for either one of us. GBD

    1. As I wrote to the previous reader, I'm "done with the conversation" because I know the facts and because I don't want to waste any more of my time discussing issues when I know what I am saying is true, based on factual information from President Obama and Secretary Clinton. And for me to continue butting heads with you or anybody else, going 'round and 'round in circles, makes no sense for either one of us. GBD

  6. The presence of Bernie Sanders in the Democratic Party was potentially a benefit that has turned into a polemical disaster. Sanders is a child of the 70s Democratic Socialist ideology that posited that the way to real reform was the absolute destruction of the party, that liberal, even progressive reform obstructed that goal.

The problem is that Sanders is a 'vulgar Marxist' with a highly simplistic set of ideological goals, no substance. DSoc fell apart for the same reason. Simply looking for broad generalizations - do away with banks, destroy the power of Wall Street, provide single payer - that have zero substance or pathway to creation. Destruction of the status quo (today a much more vital and humane version than we've had since the Great Society) is NOT a policy or even an ideal.

Sanders reduces everything to economism. That is a serious factor in our dysfunctions that exist, but it cannot deal with the equally important issues of race, misogyny, xenophobia, etc. or with what government must address:the hurts that come from within the hegemony of everyday life - aging, disabilities, water, poor service in overcrowded cities, land use, retirement, poor schools, hate crimes, bias, rape, domestic violence, etc. These issues afflict people most immediately, and breaking up banks won't make any of it better.

Sanders is an ideology, a bad ideologue, and is incapable of working at the level a VP needs to do. He had 26 years in Congress with the worst record on missed votes in the Senate which is saying something not good in light of the Tea Party. He has accomplished NOTHING in all his years. Why would we want him to lead us?

America prides itself on being a great experiment, but we do not exist to be nothing BUT an experiment. As Brownback has inflicted from the Right, Sanders would inflict from the Left, and his inability to compromise would create huge dysfunction in the Executive Branch.

He needs to go back to his legitimate role as gadfly and social critic. He's not very good at it, but he does raise issues more competent people could begin to enact. What he cannot be is a leader because he has no idea how to do that. No. Not VP, not President, nothing. He has not earned our trust and needs to go away.
