WHAT IS THE "OPEN BOOK" ON DONALD TRUMP?

After reading the commentary below, please express your own thoughts.  Instructions on how to do so are written at the bottom of this column.  Thank you.

Do Republicans know everything there is to know about Donald Trump?  Does all of America?  The answer, of course...is no.

The people of our nation only know the surface of Trump.  Oh sure, we know that he's a megalomaniac who has badmouthed everybody from the President to the Pope...from a decorated war hero to entire religious and ethnic populations...and to anybody else who gets in his way...or doesn't agree with him.  But, as I indicated in my Saturday, April 23rd, 2016 commentary...the media - especially the 24-hour cable networks - have given Trump...what I call - "campaign contributions" - by providing him hours upon hours...of what - in all intents and purposes - comes down to...free advertising.  They did it again on Tuesday, April 26th when Trump gave his victory speech following his sweep of five primaries.  It was another one of Trump's "off the cuff" monologues...that quickly became a full-blown press conference that was covered live for more than half an hour.

Since the media has handed over to Trump an exorbitant amount of exposure on a silver platter...when will reporters start letting the American public know the inside scoop on Donald Trump?

Trump has somehow attracted a large portion of the Republican electorate through his "rough and gruff" demeanor.  And although it continues to amaze me that people have supported him through Campaign 2016...I must sit back and wonder when we are going to find out what really makes Donald Trump tick.

For nearly a year now, we have heard Trump brag about his deal making.  And the real estate mogul has touted his skills on how great he is as a negotiator.  But I have to ask the question...is he ethical?

When Donald Trump is behind closed doors in his swanky, Manhattan office...what really goes on?  Has Trump ever found himself - late at night...or in the wee overnight hours - in the backseat of a super-stretch limousine...in the bowels of an empty, dark parking garage...while making a deal that is not altogether - for the lack of a better word - "kosher?"

Mind you...I - in no way - am making any accusations or allegations.  I am merely asking legitimate questions...which I expect to be asked by the investigative journalists from our country's top newspapers and television networks.

Trump continues to boast about how he will make trade deals with other nations' leaders.  But how does he actually make deals?  Are his methods those that would make Americans cringe...or would we feel proud?  Again...these are reasonable and honest questions to ask.

I would like inquiries to be made to some of the people that Donald Trump has worked with over the years.  And I want to hear from other corporate executives - large and small - who are part of his company...or companies who he's negotiated with...who have been involved with Trump...when he has made some of the deals that has helped him to become the industrial giant that he has been for decades.

Someone needs to dig up...the "Donald dirt."  But...if he's squeaky clean...then so be it and God bless.

Because of being First Lady of Arkansas...First Lady of The United States...a U.S. Senator from New York...and our nation's Secretary of State... we know pretty much everything there is to know about Hillary Clinton's entire life... even going back to her childhood.  And of course...there's little we don't know about her husband...former President  Bill Clinton

Mrs. Clinton has been vetted by the public...and by governments...time and time again.  But Donald Trump's political experience only spans less than ten-and-a-half months.  And although he was in the public eye as a TV personality - as host of NBC's The Apprentice and The Celebrity Apprentice - there has been no deep excavation and microscopic probe...of this man...who millions of Americans are hoping will be the President of The United States.

I personally do not have the resources to explore and scrutinize the nearly 70 years, which today make up the person known as...Donald Trump.  But journalists who have the backing of major media monstrosities...they do.  I, therefore, implore my "press peers"...to discover whatever there may be...good or bad...and to then inform American voters...of the "nuts and bolts" of Donald Trump.

It's obvious - I think even to Bernie Sanders - that Hillary Clinton will be chosen the Democratic Party's nominee.  And - as I always have been - I remain completely confident...that Secretary Clinton will be elected our nation's 45th President.  However - on the Republican side - should Donald Trump be selected the GOP nominee...we, the people of The United States...must be able to read every chapter - from birth...to boyhood...to billionaire businessman - about the life of Donald Trump.  And it needs to be...an "open book."

And that's The Controversy for today.

  1. Gary, you are so funny. I am sure the left wing media and the attack machine of the Clintons will vet Trump if he is the GOP Nominee and if they can’t find anything they will make something up. It is the Clinton way. I have to laugh when you talk about us knowing everything about Hillary. Do we know everything about her and Vince Foster? No. Do we know everything about her time at the Rose Law Firm, remember all the missing Rose Law Firm files found in the private living quarters of the White House only days after the statute of limitation had expired? No. What about missing items from the White House they took when moving out? No. Do we know what was on her unauthorized personal email server that she used for Government work that she deleted 30,000 emails? No. Do we know where she was and what she was doing when our Ambassador to Libya and three other Americans were murdered by terrorist and our government did nothing? No. Do we know what she has been promising to all these Wall Street banks and foreign governments and business while collecting hundreds of thousands of dollars in speaking fees? No. Do we know how she parlayed $1000 into over $100,000 in a commodities trade? No. I could go on and on but the answers will always be the same NO we don’t know about Hillary and the mainstream media won’t bring any of it up. I’m sure you will say I’m picking on poor Hillary, she is the savior of the world and we shouldn’t even have an election we should just declare her president and queen of America. Keep drinking the Kool-Aid she doesn’t care about anyone but herself.

    1. There is nothing more to know about regarding the laughable examples you mentioned. We all know the facts and truths, and there is nothing wrong with anything that was done by either Hillary or Bill Clinton. Of course, as a Republican, you will believe differently. Some of the things you noted are so ludicrous and altogether untrue that I won't even comment further. But, as far as your ridiculous comment that "poor Hillary, she is the savior of the world and we shouldn’t even have an election we should just declare her President and queen of America," well, Mrs. Clinton will indeed be the "savior of the world." And when she is elected our 45th President, you will see how spectacular she will be as our nation's President and Commander-In-Chief. No Kool-Aid here, just plain common sense about a person who will continue the progress made by President Obama - who has been outstanding as our President. But President Hillary Clinton will take the United States back to the very top, which is where we were when President Bill Clinton left office. Unfortunately, President George W. Bush took us to the bottom with so much failure as President and Commander-In-Chief. President Hillary Clinton will keep us safe, make sure our economy is strong and the poor and middle-class will be making money. And those are just a couple of issues where Mrs. Clinton will be phenomenal. Stand by, after January 20th, 2017, and you will see everything great with a President Hillary Clinton. GBD

  2. I didn’t say anything was done wrong, I just asked questions. As usual for Clinton supporters and the left you don’t answer questions; you just claim the questioner is wrong and evil. How can a question be “untrue” only the answer can be true or untrue and you didn’t give any answers. Either you don’t know the answers or you know they reflect badly on your beloved Hillary. As for your comments on President Bush, it is useless to discuss it, you are a known Bush hater and you will always continue yours and the lefts lies about him. As for saying President Obama has been “outstanding as our President” you are apparently uninformed, his action have destroyed health care for millions of Americans, raising their rates, their deductibles, their co-pays and reducing their access to doctors. He made a deal with Iran which gave them $150,000,000,000 to fund terrorism and not stop them from getting the bomb. He has insulted and not supported Israel one of our best allies. His actions and non-action have let ISIS grow to the size and strength it is today. His and Hillary’s bad foreign policies let Russia and Puttin run amuck. His economic policies have kept our economy down. The list goes on and on! This you call outstanding? You need to wake up and see reality or get some serious help because you live in a fantasy world.

    1. The questions you asked were wrong because you imply that Hillary Clinton did wrong...which she did not. I did not know that I was "a known Bush hater." I don't hate anybody. I just know facts and some of the things that President Bush did (or did not do) during his two terms in The White House were acts of poor judgment and other Presidents (Democratic..or even some Republicans) would never have put our country in to situations that caused certain problems. As for President Obama, I disagree with everything you said, but obviously - as with most, if not all, Republicans...you are going to believe what you stated. Don't get me started because I have written about this, in the past, about ISIS being the initial fault of President Bush since if there was no al-Qaeda terrorizing America, there would be no ISIS. For you to say that President Obama's "economic policies have kept our economy down" is perhaps one of the most ludicrous statements anybody could say since the unemployment rate was well over 10% under Bush and is now below 5%. Remember also that President Bill Clinton left office with the United States being completely economically sound with a tremendous surplus. President Bush destroyed everything that President Clinton built. I could list all of President Obama's "outstanding" accomplishments (remember Osama bin Laden is dead and General Motors is alive) plus numerous other achievements, but I will let you Google them. It's so typical of a Republican to answer a Democrat with insults and untruths. I am wide awake and do not "live in a fantasy world." And I certainly don't need to "get some serious help." But right back at you. Perhaps you do. GBD

    2. The questions I asked are questions that she has been unwilling to answer for close to 30 years. As for you being a Bush hater, all anyone has to do is read what you have written, the lies you tell and the stories you and the left make up, could only come from someone who truly hates President Bush. As for President Obama, you and the left should stop using the line “remember Osama bin Laden is dead and General Motors is alive” Obama had very little to do with killing bin Laden, that was the CIA and Seal Team 6. As for GM, the administration stole the company from its rightful owners and gave it to the Unions. The right thing to have done was to file Chapter 11 and work within the system, not screwing the bond holders and stockholder so they could give the company to their left wing Union supporters. As for the unemployment rate, once you factor in the reduction in the labor participation rate and the under employed and the hours reduced because of Obama Care, the working people in many cases are worse off today than they were in 2009. I don’t believe that I insulted you and I know I did not write a single untrue statement. I truly believe you as do most of the far left need serious help and should stop making up and telling the lies of the left.

    3. It is untrue that Hillary Clinton has not answered the questions you pose. I do not hate President George W. Bush and do not hate anybody, so your remark is indeed insulting. I have not stated any lies, however, about Mr. Bush. They are facts. If you truly believe the drivel that you state that President Obama had "very little to do with killing bin Laden" then you need an education. I won't even comment on your false beliefs about General Motors because what the President did was outstanding and the right thing to do. In all the many, many decades of calculating the unemployment rate, the U.S. has never figured in the "under employed." I don't disagree that perhaps it should be calculated, but you can't match apples to oranges, only apples to apples. If what you're saying is true then the unemployment rate would have been 20% or more under George W. Bush. You can't have it both ways. And yes, when you tell someone that they need "some serious help" that is an insult. I don't tell lies, I don't believe Democrats and liberals tell lies, and I know that Hillary Clinton has never lied. There has never been proof of any lie told by her. And that too is a fact. GBD

  3. She has never honestly answered these questions. As for you hating President Bush anyone who tells the lies that you do about him and then claims them to be facts must be a real hater. As for killing bin Laden no President has much involvement in these type missions. The CIA got the intelligence and the Seals did the mission. All Obama did was approve the mission, which I give him credit for. My statements about GM is 100% fact, if the company had gone into Chapter 11 the Union would never gotten ownership of the company the stockholder, bondholders and or creditors would have. The Union should have gotten nothing instead the Obama Administration gave them the company and screwed everyone else. I never said they add in the under employed to the rate, but if you did the math the labor participation rate when Obama took office was about 67% it is now less than 62% lowest since the Carter years. The 5% that stoped looking and dropped from the labor pool were taken off the rate and claimed them as a reduction in unemployment, first time that has ever been done. Talk about fuzzy math. As for Hillary as Secretary of State, here are some FACTS: Egypt sent into total disarray thanks to her, Russia and Putin have no respect for us, no fear of us and will do whatever they want thanks to her and Obama, ISIS became the power it is going from about 500 people as the “JV Team” to 80,000 strong worldwide thanks to Her and Obama, don’t blame it on Bush that is a left wing lie. She oversaw the beginnings of the Iran deal that gave Iran $150,000,000,000 to support terrorism and will do nothing to stop Iran from getting the bomb, maybe the worst deal ever. As for what you claim was an insult, I disagree, if someone has cancer, is it an insult to say they should have chemotherapy, I think not. By what you write it is apparent that you have some very serious problems that you and most of the left could use professional help for. And everyone knows and has proven she lies about everything.

    1. Enough already. I will respond one more time on this matter with you and that will be it. I can't waste my time on a Republican who obviously doesn't want to accept the facts and who is also obviously either a pathalogical liar or just someone who refuses to acknowledge the truth. I'm not going to spend the time responding to the same remarks you continue to write. It's all a bunch of hogwash. Totally untrue about both President Obama and Secretary Clinton. Plus, your figures and statistics are way off base. I don't know who you're getting these false reports from, but you need to be properly educated on facts. As for the stupidity (yes, I used the word stupidity) of your comment comparing someone with cancer to a liberal Democrat who is discussing politics with a Republican, well, you should be ashamed of yourself. I've been through major cancer twice. Only a fool would make a horrible statement such as the one above that you made. You are definitely a breed of your own. To say that I and most of the "left" need "professional help" is a deplorable comment for you to make, and again, to use a cancer analogy is despicable. If you are going to make remarks as you have, then don't respond to The Controversy. Oh and one more thing, as I have stated time and time again, nobody has ever proven that Mrs. Clinton has ever lied about anything. That's because...she hasn't. GBD

  4. The report comes from the US Dept of Labor "Bureau of Labor Statistics". As for my cancer statement I was truly trying to help. I truly believe that you or anyone that holds your far left beliefs must have some sort of mental illness and needs professional help. It is the only way I can see someone believing the things you say and write. No insult was intended, just a honest diagnosis.

    1. I won't stoop to your "Trump-esque" level and insult a Republican such as yourself with the evil words that you continue to use towards me. I will say that you obviously wouldn't know facts if they bit you in the butt. However, your "mental illness" and "professional help" comment about me or any other liberal progressive Democrat is disgusting, despicable and reprehensible. What a shame that people like you and Donald Trump need to reduce youselves to nasty, ugly remarks to express a point of view. GBD
