As Americans...and other good people around the world...pray for the injured...and offer our deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to the devastated families of those innocent souls whose lives were stolen by the tragic insanity of terroristic bastards in Brussels Belgium on Tuesday, March 22nd, 2016...it boggles my mind that at Donald Trump's rallies...his fanatical crowd of voting public...cheers enthusiastically...when the Republican Presidential Candidate rants and raves about his unrealistic plan to confront ISIS.
I'll not forget Trump's speech on November 12th, 2015...when the billionaire businessman told voters in Iowa...that he "would bomb the sh-t out of 'em." This is a man that, so far, an overwhelming amount of Republicans want to be President of the United States? What has America come to...when citizens of our great nation - and yes, we are already great - are desiring to put a man in The White House who uses profanity in a campaign speech? And what kind of a monster wants to target mothers and their children, as a way for the U.S. to annihilate ISIS?
The United States cannot be the monster. ISIS is the monster.
On Wednesday, March 23rd, 2016...President Barack Obama in Argentina and Democratic Presidential Candidate Hillary Clinton at Stanford University in California...blasted Donald Trump and his GOP opponent, Ted Cruz about "counter-productive" and "dangerous" approaches to defeat ISIS. The President chastised Trump and Cruz by stating..."So when I hear somebody saying - 'We should carpet-bomb Iraq or Syria,' - not only is that inhumane...not only is that contrary to our values...but that would likely be an extraordinary mechanism for ISIL (ISIS)...to recruit more people willing to die and explode bombs." And former Secretary Of State Clinton also referenced the Republicans' threat to "carpet-bomb" by arguing that, "It would be a serious mistake to begin carpet-bombing populated areas into oblivion."
Donald Trump's notion of combating terrorism with ground forces changed recently...when at the March 10th, 2016 Republican Debate on CNN...Trump announced to our country - and to the world - that, "We really have no choice. We have to knock out ISIS. I would listen to the generals, but I'm hearing numbers of 20,000 to 30,000."
But what if it doesn't end there? Would Trump - if Commander-In-Chief - decide later that he needs 50,000 troops to wipe out ISIS? How about 100,000...or more?
hammered Trump by voicing, "It would be a serious mistake to stumble in to another costly ground war in The Middle East."
Do the staunch followers of Donald Trump not realize...that the soldiers, airmen, marines and sailors...who would be ordered in to another war zone...could very well be the husbands and wives...mothers and fathers...sons and daughters...and brothers and sisters...of the same people who are engaged in the merriment and applause for Trump and his campaign for President?
When Trump bellows and barks about torturing the enemy...do his backers - the people who are giving Trump standing ovations at his rallies - understand the opposition will do the same to our troops...if they were sent in to harm's way by a President named Trump?
In a recent, comprehensive poll - conducted by the Institute Of Politics at Harvard University - 60% of 18 to 29-year-olds...said they support the United States entering in to another ground war in order to battle ISIS. But while young people seem to agree with "boots on the ground"...85% of that same group admit...that they themselves would not want to participate in such a military endeavor. Therefore...only 15% would volunteer to serve our country. Do those so-called "Millennials" comprehend the fact that it is the 18 to 29-year-old demographic that Donald Trump would be using - if he was President - to build up the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps...and that to increase those four branches of our U.S. Armed Forces...to sizes that Trump wants...may require a draft? Do those young Americans who approve Trump's military ventures overseas, but not themselves going to war...grasp the likely possibility...that with a Commander-In-Chief whose signature is Donald J. Trump...they may be forced to become active service men and women...and be called in to action?
The avid advocates...who are passionately in favor of the real estate tycoon...have apparently - and metaphorically - been drinking too much of Donald Trump's "Kool-Aid." I'm flabbergasted that they would encourage Trump to embroil the United States in a ground war against ISIS.
I, for one, wouldn't want anybody in my family ordered in to a hostile environment for a military operation...that could last many years...and that undoubtedly...and most certainly...would produce monumental bloodshed.
Come January 20th, 2017...when a new American President is inaugurated...the ages of my two nephews will be 26 and 25...and both will be smack-dab in the middle of what would be the 18 to 29-year-old "draft" squads. Folks...I don't want my two nephews sent to war.
Now I don't want criticism from readers...who may come to their own wrong conclusion...that I don't recognize and appreciate the brave men and women of our military who help to keep America free and safe. They deserve every American's eternal gratitude. This is not a commentary against our Armed Forces and our veterans. It is my protest and my objection that Donald Trump is even being considered by some...to be President and Commander-In-Chief of the United States. Trump's dreadfully unprepared and inadequate thinking...are filled with frivolous and half-baked ramblings.
Republicans - young and old - who are so fascinated by...and fervent about...Donald Trump...need to pause...take a deep breath...and clearly think of what would happen if Trump was President. As harsh as this may sound...if Donald Trump ends up being the GOP nominee - which, as I always say, I'm not so sure will become a reality - then a vote for Trump in the general election on November 8th, 2016...is a vote that will probably take the lives of many Americans...if he was somehow elected President. Moms and dads...if you don't want your children...on the front lines fighting ISIS...then don't cast your ballots for Donald Trump.
Of course, I don't believe that Trump - if nominated - can beat Hillary Clinton. I still feel...with the utmost confidence...that the former Secretary Of State will be our nation's 45th President. So I suppose I shouldn't worry. But I'm not a swami or a fortune teller. I have no crystal ball...no tarot cards. And politics is not an exact science. I can only rely on the wisdom...sound judgment... and good sense of Democrats and Independents nationwide. And if I'm wrong...well...I'm not God. And thankfully...neither is Donald Trump.
And that's The Controversy for today.

There is very little in this blog I can agree with, I agree that we all should pray for the victims of this act of “war”, I agree Trump should not use the language he sometimes uses. To claim that his ideas to fight ISIS is inhumane are in my opinion is wrong. The USA “carpet bombed” in WWII, we did in the Korean War, we did it in Viet Nam. So by your thinking Presidents FDR, Truman and Johnson as “Commander-in-Chief” ordered inhumane acts. We dropped two atomic bombs on Japan, killing everyone in Hiroshima and Nagasaki saving maybe hundreds of thousands of American lives. Let me point out that all three of those Presidents were Democrats. What should be done? We have seen what President Obama, Hillary Clinton and John Kerry’s way has gotten us. ISIS grew from the “JV Team” to the most dangerous terrorist group ever, we have the three of them to thank. What is Hillary’s plan, continue to “lead from behind” do pin prick air attacks; we have seen this does not work! We need to destroy them. We are at war and the Democrats just don’t want to admit it. They won’t even say who we are fighting “Radical Islamic Terrorist”. As for your comment about a draft, we don’t need a draft, the only reason our military is depleted is due to the Obama cuts (sequester). If we have a President that cares about a strong America we won’t need a draft. As for your comment that “a vote for Trump in the general election on November 8th, 2016...is a vote that will probably take the lives of many Americans “is not only disgraceful, it is disgusting and wrong. What will cost American lives is doing nothing or very little as Obama has been doing. What will cost American live are the attacks that have been happening such as in France and in Brussels and in San Bernardino by ISIS , their affiliates and followers. They are headed here and Hillary will do nothing more the Obama has done to stop them, which is almost nothing. That is what will cost American lives! Just remember a vote for Hillary is a vote for the person whose policies help grow ISIS into what it is today.
ReplyDeleteTo quote Republicans' favorite President in modern times, Ronald Reagan..."There you go again." I never know who I am actually addressing since most of my Republican/Conservative readers rarely post their names. But you all tell me the same things and, quite frankly, I'm exhausted in giving this same answer - and that is this - to say that you have "the three of them to thank" (President Obama, Hillary Clinton and John Kerry) for ISIS...is absolutely false. ISIS may be an off-shoot of al-Qaeda, but if President George W. Bush had listened to intelligence from his counter-terrorism adviser, Richard Clark, al-Qaeda would have been stopped and there would not have been a 9/11. Therefore, there would have not been an ISIS to follow. That's number one. As for number two - We were involved in a World War with millions of people being killed when President Franklin Roosevelt and President Harry Truman were in The White House. As for President Lyndon Johnson - well, as much as I liked President Johnson for many domestic issues - ie: civil rights, medicare and medicaid, just to name a few...I was against President Johnson for escalating the war in Vietnam and continuing a conflict that the United States should never have been involved in to begin with. So for your remark about "carpet-bombing" - I repeat (as I did in my commentary above) what both President Obama and former Secretary Of State Hillary Clinton said on Wednesday of this week. "So when I hear somebody saying - 'We should carpet-bomb Iraq or Syria,' - not only is that inhumane...not only is that contrary to our values...but that would likely be an extraordinary mechanism for ISIL (ISIS)...to recruit more people willing to die and explode bombs." And Secretary Clinton said, "It would be a serious mistake to begin carpet-bombing populated areas into oblivion." I agree. Obviously, you think the United States military should kill mothers and their children. Now for number three - if Donald Trump is elected President (which I doubt he will be...and that is if he's even nominated by the GOP) then a draft is inevitable. There will not be enough 18 to 29-year-olds in our country who will enlist voluntarily in to our Armed Forces. As the Harvard study proves - 85% of that demographic will not volunteer to go fight a war against ISIS. So your comment that "If we have a President that cares about a strong America we won’t need a draft..." is ludicrous. And finally, number four. My comment that "a vote for Trump in the general election on November 8th, 2016...is a vote that will probably take the lives of many Americans...if he was somehow elected President..." is not - as you say, "disgraceful, disgusting and wrong." My remark was not to imply that Donald Trump is going to go kill Americans with his bare hands. But his policy - if he was Commander-In-Chief - to start the kind of military action that he wants - would, without question, require a draft. That's based on everything I stated above. And if there is a draft in our country...with Americans being ordered to war...some...many...perhaps a great many Americans...will die. Thus the title of my commentary: TRUMP = WAR + DRAFT + DEATH OF AMERICANS. A President Hillary Clinton - which I wholeheartedly believe will become a reality on January 20th, 2017 as a result of the November 8th, 2016 election...will save the United States of America - and the world - from ISIS and from all terrorism. DeleteFirst I did not say the three of them caused ISIS, I said “We have seen what President Obama, Hillary Clinton and John Kerry’s way has gotten us. ISIS grew from the “JV team” to the most dangerous terrorist group ever, we have the three of them to thank”. It was President Obama who said they were the JV Team and didn’t present any major threat. Their policies (Obama, Clinton, Kerry) help make ISIS become what it is today. If Obama had listened to the Generals instead of Clinton and later Kerry maybe ISIS wouldn’t have grown to what it is today. I am the one who should quote Reagan and say “There you go again” with your revisionist history about Richard Clark and your claim his information would have stopped 9/11, it wouldn’t have. Most of what he claimed after the fact was debunked by the experts, the 9/11 commission and others. Most if not all verifiable intelligence was acted on, the FAA was warned, airports and airlines were warned the CIA and FBI were looking for the men there was intel on, so stop with the lies about President Bush. You sound as if you are a member to one of the crazy groups that claim the CIA or Israel blowup the World Trade Center. As for your claim of a draft if we need 30,000 troops to fight ISIS even if we needed a 100,000 as you said, we have 1,429,000 active military personnel, 350,000 National Guard, 200,000 Army Reservist and another 40,000 Marine Reservist, that’s over 2,000,000 men/women in our military if we can’t send 5% to protect us we are in big trouble. Please do your research before you make such laughable comments. You never answered my question, what is Hillary’s plan to destroy ISIS? She doesn’t have one!
ReplyDeleteFacts, facts, facts. You and most of the Republican readers who respond to my commentaries just don't have them. You want to listen to the pundits on FOX and to people on conservative talk radio - such as Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and the rest of their bunch - who are haters of liberals, progressives and Democrats overall. First, by saying what you said about President Obama, Hillary Clinton and John Kerry is basically accusing them of ISIS. They are in no way responsible for "help(ing) to make ISIS become what it is today." Second, what I said about Richard Clark is absolute truth and fact. It has been proven and documented so don't tell me to "stop with the lies about President Bush." If Mr. Bush had listened to Mr. Clarke, there more than likely would not have been a 9/11, which means there would not have been an al-Qaeda to attack the U.S.A., and thus, there would be no ISIS. Plain, simple, fact and true. But Republicans refuse to acknowledge and believe it. Third, my research is perfect and according to political, diplomatic and military experts, in order to wipe out ISIS - the way Donald Trump wants to do it - a draft would be inevitable. The "laughable comments" belong to you. Fourth, I'm not about to spell out Hillary Clinton's plan to destroy ISIS. I'll let her tell you when she's President of the United States on January 20th, 2017. GBD
DeleteFacts, facts, facts, you make your own up. Yes, I do listen to some who you mentioned; they do not hate liberals or Democrats. They as I may hate their policies, not the people. The people just need to be educated on how wrong their policies are, those policies work against the safety and security of America, they in many cases don’t follow the US Constitution, and they are BAD for America as is Hillary Clinton. I am sure you watch and listen to stations like CBS whose anchor tried to pass off a forged fraudulent letter about President Bush or CNN better known as the Clinton News Network or MSNBC who wouldn’t know the truth in a story if bit them. It is not worth going over your love for Richard Clark, there is no proof that anything he said would have prevented 9/11. If you wish to continue those lies it is your right but you should state it as your opinion and backed by no facts. As for the draft you wish to listen to the fear mongers that we need a draft to fight ISIS. America and her military are not that weak that we need or would want a draft the only weak one in our military is its Commander-in-Chief. A man who doesn’t even have the guts to say who we are fighting, radical-Islamic-terrorist or to say we are at war. As for Hillary Clinton’s plan to fight ISIS she doesn’t have one that will work, her plans with Obama and Kerry took the JV Team of ISIS (Obama’s words) and gave us and the world the ISIS of today, you can color coat it any way you want but those are the facts. America needs to wake up and realize that she is not good for America she will double down on Obama’s policies that have tried to take away our Constitutional rights, the 2nd amendment gun rights, the first amendment Freedom of Religion and Free Speech (Citizens United), our right to control our own health care, all at a bigger risk if she becomes President. Her policies will leave us vulnerable to terrorist attacks, her backing Obama’s Iran deal will lead to a nuclear Iran. Those are the facts. A vote for Hillary is a vote for a weaker America and an America at risk!
ReplyDeleteI will sound like a broken record to my regular readers because I have made a similar statement in the past, but it's silly for me to continue going back and forth with someone who refuses to acknowledge facts, which, of course, are confirmed by non-partisan organizations. So, if you write back again on the issues above, I will not be replying. It is obvious you are someone who must get the last word so I will allow that should you answer again. But understand, it will not be an acknowledgement that I agree with any of your thinking...because I don't. First...President Obama and the policies of his administration are not at all wrong, but indeed correct, as they work to protect the safety and security of the United States of America...and they do follow the U.S. Constitution. President Obama and his policies are GOOD for America...and Hillary Clinton as our 45th President will be GREAT. Second...you truly amaze me. Who brings up CBS News and Dan Rather from more than a decade ago? But since you did, I will respond. Anchor Dan Rather never tried to "pass off a forged fraudulent letter about President Bush." That is a falsehood, so don't go spreading more lies. And CNN and MSNBC only report facts. Third...I've already stated the facts about Richard Clarke and President George W. Bush and I do indeed have all the facts...and they are documented. Fourth...my research and remarks about a draft by Donald Trump are accurate, but he won't be elected President so America has nothing to worry about. He's likely to not even be nominated by the Republican Convention. Fifth...Stop with all the repeated nonsense about the "JV" team. It's ridiculous for me to repeat myself that ISIS was born from al-Qaeda and if President Bush had listened to Richard Clarke, there would have been no al-Qaeda attacking the U.S. on September 11th, 2001; therefore no 9/11. Sixth...Hillary Clinton will not take away anybody's Constitutional rights for the future of the country we are today. The Second Amendment will not be removed from the Constitution, but there will be certain laws put in to place - especially with a Democratic Senate and House - that will ban certain weapons and that will increase the level of background checks. There will be no change in the First Amendment, but Citizens United will be overturned by a Supreme Court with more Justices who are correct with their thinking. The Affordable Care Act will improve even more, minimum wage will go up to between $12.50 and $15.00 an hour and the poor and middle class will be able to actually live. Seventh...Hillary Clinton as President will not at all leave Americans and America vulnerable to terrorist attacks. She will keep us safe...which George W. Bush did not do. Even your Republican frontrunner agrees with that. Eighth...there will be no nuclear Iran. Now THOSE are the facts. A vote for Hillary Clinton is a vote for an even GREATER America...because we are already GREAT...have always been GREAT...and will continue to be GREAT. GBD
DeleteThere is no use discussing anything with you, you make up your own facts, you lie about the “Right”. You cheer on Obama who is turning this country into a welfare state, taking away peoples independent rights. Hillary wants more of the same, top down Federal Government in control of our lives, cradle to grave government. Your statement “Supreme Court with more Justices who are correct with their thinking” says it all and shows you lack of knowledge, what you claim is correct thinking is in direct contradiction to the US Constitution. But then again the left has never believed in the Constitution, it values or what it stands for or what America stands for!
ReplyDeleteThe true facts speak for themselves...and you simply don't speak the true facts. But I do. I know I do. Because I speak the facts of President Obama and Hillary Clinton. And my knowledge of the U.S. Supreme Court is accurate. Republicans are saying today that Democrats want to "change the balance of the Court." That's a bunch of bunk. The Supreme Court has basically been a 5 to 4 unbalance for years, but thankfully Jusice Roberts has realized that certain laws passed by Democrats should be upheld. But when Justice Garland is confirmed - and he wll be - then ALL Americans will be protected by truth and justice; not by whatever it is that conservatives want, which would overturn such rights as Roe v. Wade and the Affordable Care Act. It is such a shame that a conservative Republican would actually write that "the left has never believed in the Constitution." That is a despicable statement. I am now done discussing these issues with you, "Mr. or Ms. Anonymous." GBD
