What if a Republican Campaign For President was a Hollywood movie? Is it possible that the leading character in that film could try to sabotage his own campaign as a way to destroy the chances of winning The White House by any GOP candidate? Just suppose.
Is it a plausible suggestion that the starring role may be running for President - as a Republican - in order to assure a landslide victory by the Democratic Party front-runner and presumptive nominee? Just suppose.
If a Republican candidate's campaign was a blockbuster motion picture, imagine if the part being portrayed by the headlining actor was involved - without any knowledge whatsoever by the Democrats - in designing a calculated plan to make sure that the Democratic favorite would win the general election. Just suppose.
Just suppose that this film's first-billed performer spews hateful rhetoric about Mexicans and Muslims...and uses offensive language towards anyone who doesn't put him on a pedestal. Could it possibly be that the script calls for this GOP candidate to make strategic moves in order to ruin any opportunity for any Republican to become President?
Did this center-stage thespian find that his foulmouthed tongue backfired and actually sparked a large amount of Republican followers instead of causing a revolt against him? And, as a result, did he then realize that he needed to do something so drastic to completely demolish his campaign and the GOP efforts as a whole? So just suppose...that the
writers of this movie had their principal character tell campaign
supporters and prospective voters at a rally that, "If you see somebody
getting ready to throw a tomato...knock the crap out of them." And what
if this candidate for President of the United States says the following
about a violent protester? "I'd like to punch him in the face" and that years ago, somebody like that would
"be carried out on a stretcher." What kind of a Presidential candidate utters such vulgar, vile and threatening words? In any event, I would certainly hope nobody is critically hurt...or worse...at one of these raging, riotous rallies.
I understand that what I have questioned in this essay may sound far-fetched...but could it happen? Could it be true? Could such a Presidential candidate willfully weave a conflict in the overall political tapestry to deliberately destruct the Republican Party? Just suppose.
With present-day Presidential politics as they are...I wouldn't doubt it for a minute.

If such a thing was to happen or is happening in my opinion it would be with the full knowledge and cooperation of the Democrat Party and its front runner.
ReplyDeleteI don't think so. If such a scenario was true, there would have to be plausible deniability by the Democratic Party and the Democratic candidates. Plus, I really don't believe the Republican candidate would share such an idea with the Democrats. If such a scenario was true, it would be only the Republican candidate himself (and any very close, senior advisers) to be part of such a scheme. GBD
DeleteWhat you described above is precisely why this candidate resonates so strongly with the general population. No holds barred, big set of cajones, take crap from nobody, tough talking big shot from New Yawk. It cuts against the political grain to which we are accustomed; stuffed suit "yes men" with years of political experience, no doubt corrupt, and seeking only personal gain and wealth. Bernie the Socialist belongs in an old age home, Hillary in prison, and Trump belongs in the White House if we are to truly save this country. If, God forbid, Hillary wins, say goodbye to the remainder of our liberties and freedom forever.
ReplyDeleteOn the one hand I say let Hillary win, and give it to her for 8 years. This way, after 16 years of a democratic president, all blame fully shifts to the Democrats for the sinking of this nation. One only has to look at predominantly Democratic controlled cities such as Detroit, Flint, Newark, Paterson, and Chicago (to name just a few) to grasp precisely what's on the horizon for this country should Hillary gets in.
So take your pick: a truly flourishing economy with the real unemployment number (u6) @ 5%, crime down, violence down, household median salaries up, home ownership up, prices down, health costs down and a strong military protecting us here and abroad, vote Trump. If you want a Detroit or Chicago, vote Hillary.
Obviously I disagree with everything that you have written regarding the Democrats. To say that "Hillary (belongs) in prison" is a disgraceful comment. Secretary Clinton has done nothing illegal. There is no proof, no evidence, no reason whatsoever for anybody to think that Mrs. Clinton is guilty of any crime. To say that Bernie Sanders "belongs in an old age home" is a bigoted statement of discrimination. You must be very young. To say that "If, God forbid, Hillary wins, say goodbye to the remainder of our liberties and freedom forever" is so untrue. Quite the opposite in fact. I would say that about Donald Trump, Ted Cruz or Marco Rubio - all of whom will try to do away with Roe v. Wade by appointing an ultra-conservative Supreme Court Justice; not to mention any other Supreme Court vacancies that become available over the next 4 years and what that will do by making the Supreme Court nearly all conservative. It would destroy our country. Yes, yes, yes..."let Hillary win, and give it to her for 8 years." But no, no, no...your negative reasons are so very wrong. Our nation will not "sink" but it will be better than ever and our economy will flourish, unemployment will go even lower, crime will go down, violence down, household salaries for the middle class and poor will go up, minimum wage will go up, health costs will go down and our military will be strong - plus a lot more wonderful reasons why Hillary Clinton should be elected the 45th President of the United States of America. DeleteFirst let me say I am not the same Anonymous you replied to. I must say I agree with a lot of what he said. As for Hillary going to prison, none of us know what the FBI will come up with their criminal investigation. Her saying it is a security review is wrong the FBI Director has said the FBI does not do security reviews it is a criminal investigation. I personally believe from what has been released that she has broken many laws and has put this country at risk, will she ever be indicted for it, no, the Obama Administration will not allow the Attorney General to do anything to her. What he said about our freedoms and rights going away if Hillary becomes President is very true, the 2nd amendment gone, freedom of religion drastically reduced (Obama Care), freedom to use our money as we see fit will be restricted (Citizens United). As for your statement a Conservative Court does not restrict our freedoms it upholds the US Constitution. You mention Roe v. Wade even the very liberal constitutional expert Alan Dershowitz has said there is no constitutional basis for the Roe v. Wade decision. I don’t believe that if Hillary is elected (I hope not) that the country will go down the tube, we have so far survived 7 plus years of Obama and the destruction he has done, we will survive her if we have too.
ReplyDeleteAs I have stated to readers who have commented to other columns at The Controversy, Hillary Clinton has not broken any laws. There has been no evidence of wrongdoing by the former Secretary of State. As for the e-mail matter, just because e-mails have been designated classified after the fact, is no fault of Mrs. Clinton. Former Secretary of State, General Colin Powell - a Republican - has called the entire matter "absurd" and even many of his e-mails from a personal address - like Mrs. Clinton's - have been designated classified years afterwards, but they were not classified when they were originally sent and received. To say that "our freedoms and rights (will be) going away if Hillary becomes President" is not at all true. Your examples are bogus. And if the United States Supreme Court becomes as conservative as Republicans want, Roe v. Wade will be overturned and that, in and of itself, will be a tragic mistake and a travesty to the "freedoms" in America. As for your comment that "we have so far survived 7 plus years of Obama and the destruction he has done" well, it amazes me when Republicans make that sort of a comment. President Obama has been a terrific President. I know you don't feel that way, and that's a shame. I won't begin here to list all of his outstanding accomplishments, but I can certainly do so, should you not be aware of them. But thanks for posting your comments at The Controversy. GBD
DeleteI would like to know how you know “Hillary Clinton has not broken any laws” isn’t it up to the FBI to investigate and if the evidence supports an indictment then a court and jury to determine guilt or innocence? As for our rights going away, how can you call my examples bogus? She has said she would try and restrict or eliminate 2nd amendment gun ownership rights, she wants to uphold Obama Care religious freedoms restrictions and do away with a person’s right to spend his or her money as they want (Citizens United). How is that bogus? As for President Obama being “terrific” that’s a joke. The slowest economic recovery ever, more people on food stamps, a health care law that is destroying health care in this country, disregarding the Generals and pulling out of Iraq leaving no residual force (helping the JV team of ISIS to grow)cutting a deal with Iran giving terrorist billions of dollars and doing nothing to stop there nuclear program, I could go on and on. How is this terrific?
DeleteThere you go - doing as many Republicans will do when they want to argue a point with a Democrat - you put your own spin on something and switch words around. What I said above was..."Hillary Clinton has not broken any laws. There has been no evidence of wrongdoing by the former Secretary of State." I did not say I "know." That being said, Mrs. Clinton has not broken any laws. There is no evidence of such and she has never been arrested or indicted or convicted of any crime whatsoever. So the FBI can continue with their "review" and I believe - as most people do, according to polls - that there will be no proof at all that Secretary Clinton has done anything wrong. The 2nd Amendment does need to be changed in some form so little children don't get slaughtered in their schools and people of all ages don't get murdered in movie theatres, restaurants, malls or anywhere else in this country and so everybody is safe from certain people who own - or who are able to purchase - guns. Note the word "certain." Citizens United is bogus and needs to be overturned. And President Obama is "terrific." He began his first term when unemployment was more than 10 percent and it's been cut in half. The Affordable Care Act does need some improvements and with Hillary Clinton as President and a Democratic Senate (and perhaps a Democratic House) those improvements will be made. And stop, stop, stop! It's amazing that Republicans want to attack President Obama at all regarding the economy. You Republicans all seem to ignore the fact that our economy was in the condition it was in because of President George W. Bush. President Bill Clinton left the United States in a perfect economic condition with a surplus and as for the war in Iraq, that war should never have been started. That was President Bush's fault too and even your Republican frontrunner for Campaign 2016, Donald Trump agrees with that. So put the brakes on accusing President Obama about any of the issues you noted. And if you want a list of accomplishments by President Obama, I'd be happy to list them. GBD
