Happy New Year to all my readers of The Controversy. Here's wishing everyone a very happy and healthy 2016; and I thank each of you for your continued loyalty to The Controversy. Now, to my commentary.
If you're a regular reader of The Controversy - since I began writing and publishing editorials in November, 2012 - then you are well aware that I am a staunch supporter of both former President Bill Clinton and Democratic Presidential Candidate - the former Secretary of State - Hillary Clinton. Therefore - with full disclosure aside - it really disturbs me that there are people - over the last several days - who are comparing President Clinton with Bill Cosby.
Despite the fact that Bill Cosby was charged on Wednesday, December 30th, 2015 with aggravated indecent assault, the actor and comedian - an entertainment superstar for more than 50 years - has not been convicted of any crime. So let's give this American all the rights for which the United States Constitution allows; and that is...his day in court. Whether Cosby is guilty or innocent of the accusations against him...is not up to media critics or anybody else in our country...unless they are sitting in the jury box at the performer's trial. Prosecutors in Pennsylvania believe...that in 2004... Cosby molested a woman for whom he was acquainted. The 12-year statute of limitations was to expire in January...just days after Cosby was taken in to custody. He was released after posting ten percent of one-million dollars bail.
If Bill Cosby did drug the woman in question in order to engage in a sexual activity - which, of course, has not been proven - Bill Clinton has never, ever drugged anyone. Furthermore...no judge, no prosecutor and no law enforcement officer anywhere in the United States has ever stated that the former President, former Arkansas Governor and former Arkansas Attorney General was involved in any illegal sexual encounter.
So all you Clinton haters...STOP! Stop making President Bill Clinton out as a criminal sexual offender. He is NOT! And let's not permit conservative talk radio, cable television news and/or social media to convict Bill Cosby before a jury of his peers hears the evidence. I - nor anyone else - do not know whether he is guilty or not guilty. But Bill Cosby deserves to be represented by legal counsel. Let us remember...he is innocent...until proven otherwise.
This is still the United States of America. So let's respect and trust what our forefathers wrote more than two centuries ago. It's what makes our nation great.
And that's The Controversy for today.

ReplyDeleteScott...President Clinton was not impeached because of anything discussed in my commentary noted above. Please read it again. That's number one. Number two. President Clinton was never convicted. The impeachment was a Republican witch-hunt by Prosecutor Ken Starr and was a waste of the taxpayers money, which proved nothing. Survey after survey and poll after poll have proven that if Bill Clinton could Constitutionally run for President again, he would win in a landslide against anybody. So Scott...your comment above about "IMPEACHMENT" has no bearing whatsoever on my column at The Controversy. GBD

ReplyDeleteScott, I don't know if you're being funny or just silly, but again my commentary had nothing to do with anything related to the impeachment of President Clinton, which again he was not convicted and because there was no reason for him to be convicted. GBD

ReplyDeleteYou amaze me, Scott that you could make a disparaging statement as "Bill Clinton and Bill Cosby are both serial Woman Abusers." You sound like Donald Trump. Bill Clinton is NOT! There has never been any cause to believe that President Clinton abused any woman or anybody. And as my commentary states regarding Bill Cosby, "And let's not permit conservative talk radio, cable television news and/or social media to convict Bill Cosby before a jury of his peers hears the evidence. I - nor anyone else - do not know whether he is guilty or not guilty. But Bill Cosby deserves to be represented by legal counsel. Let us remember...he is innocent...until proven otherwise. Gary, I feel your pain. Really though, to believe in anything but the predatory nature of Bill Clinton and for that matter, his wife is obtuse.
ReplyDeleteI've got no dog in this fight. I actually believe there must be a substantial amount of lead in Washington water to result in such a large number of schizophrenics and sociopaths in both Parties.

ReplyDeleteGary this is once again how you expose yourself as an lib-tard ostrich. everyone..and i repeat EVERYONE but YOU knows beyond a shadow of a doubt that Bill Clinton has been a serial Woman Abuser for decades. he was raping and abusing women in Arkansas long before he reached The White House. this is why he was IMPEACHED Gary. because he lied about it. the only thing scummier than his behavior was that of his lowlife wife.. who tried to destroy the lives of all the women that came forth to expose him. re Bill Cosby..only an ostrich like YOU think that over 50 women are lying about his conduct over the last 40 years. what in God's name is wrong with you dude? are you living in some fantasy world or what!! Scott Getlin

ReplyDeleteYou've crossed the line, Scott. Your remark - "Everyone..and I repeat EVERYONE but YOU knows beyond a shadow of a doubt that Bill Clinton has been a serial Woman Abuser for decades. He was raping and abusing women in Arkansas long before he reached The White House. This is why he was IMPEACHED Gary. because he lied about it." - is not only very wrong, very incorrect, but very disgusting. Bill Clinton never raped anybody. Your words are grossly offensive and beyond disrespectful towards the former President of the United States who never, ever committed a criminal sexual act, as you have unjustifiably stated. Nor was President Clinton - before, during or after his two terms in The White House - ever accused of one. I admit to making unpleasant - and sometimes even harsh comments - in my editorials - about certain politicians who I either don't agree with or who I feel have done wrong politically for our country, but I have never and would never make an accusation similar to the ones you have made today. Furthermore, it is true that President Clinton was impeached by the House of Representatives on two charges, one of perjury and one of obstruction of justice, on December 19, 1998. However, the 42nd President of the United States was subsequently acquitted of those charges by the Senate on February 12, 1999. Let me repeat that.
President Clinton was ACQUITTED of the charges against him which led to his impeachment; an impeachment which was a waste of the taxpayers money and a Republican political witch-hunt by prosecutor Ken Starr. The proof is that survey after survey has proven that the majority of Americans do not feel President Clinton should have ever been impeached AND that if the U.S. Constitution would allow it, Bill Clinton would be elected again to the Presidency in a landslide. That's not just my opinion, but fact based on poll after poll. As for your comment - "The only thing scummier than his behavior was that of his lowlife wife...who tried to destroy the lives of all the women that came forth to expose him" - your words towards Democratic Presidential Candidate and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are loathsome and hateful. And finally, regarding Bill Cosby...I am no "ostrich." I'm an American who believes in the United States Constitution and the rights of all Americans. In my January 2nd, 2016 commentary of The Controversy - DO NOT COMPARE BILL CLINTON TO BILL COSBY - which you have expressed unimaginable opinions about - I wrote, "Let's not permit conservative talk radio, cable television news and/or social media to convict Bill Cosby before a jury of his peers hears the evidence. It's what makes our nation great." For you, Scott, to say to me that "Only an ostrich like YOU think that over 50 women are lying about his conduct over the last 40 years." means to me that you don't believe in America's system of justice. Again, whether Bill Cosby is guilty of what YOU have already convicted him of is not for YOU or me or anybody else to say other than a jury at his trial. That is the American way. I don't live in a "fantasy world" - as you have stated. I live in the United States of America where everyone is innocent when accused of a crime until it is proven otherwise. GBD

ReplyDeleteSo, Americas system of justice. It's Constitutionally bound until some arrogant prick gets elected and runs slipshod on the very rights that our distant and present
Creators and advocates died for often. The existing democratic reign is a trashy adaptation of King Lear. The name Clinton immediately conjures complete and total a lack of poise and honesty. To have been publicly noted to be liars and claim it's only cheating "when intercourse occurs" is banal and contemptible. The backing of any politician that will continue the same laughable approach of the Obama debacle Administration is comparable to repetitive stabs in the eye with an ice pick. And I'm sure you buy the unemployment rates, job growth rates and new business startups growth. Possibly the Ostrich analogy occurs quite like that of the Democratic counter parts. If it looks like crap and smells like crap, it came from the current DC Democratic hierarchy, it's crap!!You might as well make up your own figures. Oh wait, the administration did that for you already! Lucky you! Robert Tallia

ReplyDeleteBob, in response to your comment, "same laughable approach of the Obama debacle Administration is comparable to repetitive stabs in the eye with an ice pick" - I will say the following. Since President Obama has been in The White House, he got the Affordable Care Act passed so people with pre-existing conditions can get health insurance and children can stay on their parents plans until age 26 plus 16-million people who didn't have health insurance - now have it plus many other benefits by having the ACA. The unemployment rate dropped to 5%, President Obama ended two wars to bring our boys and girls home, veterans are getting more well-deserved support, and gasoline prices are at their lowest in years. In fact, adjusting for inflation, gas prices are lower today than they were in the early 1970s. President Obama opened relations with Cuba after more than half a century. Despite the gun control problem in our country, the F.B.I. says violent crime is down in the United States and the U.S. Department of Education reports the high school graduation rate is at a record high. I could go on and on about the success of President Obama and the Obama Administration, but if you think that the President's efforts and successes are "comparable to repetitive stabs in the eye with an ice pick" then please explain to me how you think that way. GBD
I agree with Bob and I will debunk your response: the ACA or Affordable Care Act, premium rates have increased as much as 50% to some people, the average deductible has gone up over 400% from $500 to between $2000 and $4000, copays have gone up an average of 250% from $20 to $50 and even more to see a specialist, prescription copays on average went from $10/$15/$25 to $25/$50/$75, co-insurance has gone from an average of 80/20 to 70/30 and in many cases 50/50. So it may have been a good deal for those who had no insurance and or those who get a Federal handout (subsidy) but it screwed the rest of us. Next the Unemployment rate went down to 5% but the labor participation rate is the lowest in close to 40 years it has gone from over 67% when he took office to 62.5% in November 2015 that’s an 7% drop in the work force who are not counted in the unemployment rate add in all the under employed and you get a true rate of over 15%. Next he ended 2 wars in such a bad way disregarding the advice of the Generals on the ground. His and Hilary Clinton’s policies have now given us ISIS. As for Cuba I think that is a non-issue. Next you say “Despite the gun control problem in our country, the F.B.I. says violent crime is down in the United States” this statement is laughable; it is due to the increased gun ownership that violent crimes are down. The cities with the highest gun violence are those with the toughest gun control laws. Next you talk about HS graduation rates being so high; because they have lower the requirements not that we are educating our young any better. Per the association of College Presidents we have the highest rate of college students requiring remedial classes in history; they claim they have the highest rate of students unprepared for higher education in history. So I agree with Bob about “comparable to repetitive stabs in the eye with an ice pick"
ReplyDeleteNone of what you speak of is accurate so obviously - Mr. or Ms. Anonymous - I don't agree. At least Bob - in his comments above - posts his name when he argues his position. GBD
ReplyDeleteWhat I stated is backed up by facts unlike your statements that are backed up only by Democrat talking points and your opinions. You have the right to your opinion but what I stated are the FACTS.
ReplyDeleteSenator Daniel Patrick Moynihan was correct when he spoke the words you are using. But he did have the facts. But you...I must say...do not. GBD

ReplyDeleteThank you, Greg, for your words "with all due respect." I am sincere with that. Now...right back at you old friend. With all due respect, I don't believe I am "way off base," but that you and other Republicans don't seem to realize how successful President Obama has been and continues to be. You'll not get me to "change (my) tune" as it's not a matter of just "choosing to believe" but that I have researched other reports and studies and I see the facts. Thus, I feel President Obama has done an excellent job. No President is perfect - not even my A#1 President, Bill Clinton - but President Clinton came close and President Obama, I think, has performed in an outstanding fashion. Hillary Clinton - when she is hopefully elected President in November will fall in the same superior category. Let's agree to disagree. Thanks for your comments. GBD

Since you've lumped me with the rest of those dealing with the political reality, I'll go ahead and put you together with the loony left, desperate and foolishly believing propaganda the Obama administration spews via the lame stream media.

ReplyDeleteI have a way to sum up my point to Wayne's and Greg's comments above. Greg, you stated in an earlier posting today that "This is because you choose to believe what the Obama administration wants you to believe. Dig deeper past the bs like the rest of us have and you'll change your tune - guaranteed." How can you say, "like the rest of us?" Greg, how do you then explain President Obama being elected not just one time, but twice? You mean to tell me that you are going to condemn the majority of people in the United States? President Obama beat Mitt Romney in a landslide in 2012. A huge victory to win his second term. With 332 electoral votes for the President and only 206 votes for Governor Romney. Nearly 66 million people in our country voted to keep Barack Obama in office for 4 more years. Are you saying that all of those people made a monumental mistake? I think not. GBD

ReplyDeleteHis "successful re-election" was a farce, what with the dead votes and shuttle buses from polling place to place, and coercion at the polls. Not as many people are enthralled with, and voted for Ovimit as you are led to believe. Again, go ahead and cling to the crap the administration says and wants you to hear. "The rest of us" are those within this thread who have chosen to look further past the information given to us via the left-leaning outlets. State run media as it were. Why don't you do yourself a favor and listen to the likes of Mark Levin, who knows far more than mostly any of us, as well as Dan Bonito who has inside first hand knowledge of the Obama administration, and finally Michael Savage. Forget Chris Matthews and those idiots and give the others I mentioned a listen for a week so you get the REAL story.
By the way, how's your list of Killary's accomplishments coming along? Greg Andersen
