ISIS...HAMAS...AND THE BIGOTS OF AMERICA

Is there any justice in the world?

Whether the psychopathic ISIS monster...who barbarically beheaded an innocent American journalist in Syria on August 19th, 2014...is captured and killed...it will still not bring justice to the fact that a United States citizen was executed for no deserving reason whatsoever.

Whether the Palestinian animals of Hamas...who savagely slaughter men, women and children of Israel...are stopped...it will still not bring justice to the turmoil in the Middle East unless total peace comes to Israel and the Gaza Strip.

And whether a white police officer in Ferguson, Missouri is arrested and indicted on criminal charges for excessive force in the August 9th, 2014 killing of an unarmed, black teenager - who may have done something wrong...and perhaps something illegal - but certainly the alleged theft of a box of cigars does not warrant any person without a weapon to be shot to death by a cop who reportedly riddled the young man with six bullets.

Let me ask you.  Are black people in the United States of America truly equal to white people?  If you think the answer is yes...you are clearly mistaken.  They, of course, should be equal - as ALL AMERICANS should be equal - but the sad truth is...they are not.

Whether it's proven or not...that 18-year old Michael Brown - in Ferguson, Missouri - was killed in an atrocious act of racism...or whether

facts are determined that Ferguson Police Department Officer Darren Wilson had reasonable cause to gun down Brown...black people overall...are in no way treated as equal to those of us who are white.

I'm about to write a word that I don't care to use, but unfortunately, I have had to spell out in the past...and that is the "H" word - that is the word...HATE.  Why must some people in this country...and in this world... hate?

Let us not forget that ISIS - as was and as is al-Qaeda - are organizations whose members feel their entire essence for existence...their total reason for living...is to kill Americans.

Let us remember that Hamas is a group of horrendous haters...who are sworn to brutally massacre everything that is Israel...and who believe in the despicable destruction of the Jewish state.  The vile, vicious and violent villains of Hamas...wrongfully think they have the moral right - as deplorable as it is - to use military action against Israel at anytime.

And in the United States...despite the passing of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 - 50 years ago - despite the fact that not only once - but twice - Americans elected a black President...tragically there are still people in our country - a great quantity of people in our nation - who disgustingly believe... if your skin color is black...or brown...you are different...you are not equal to those whose bodies are encased by white skin..and you are bigots...who are focused on being prejudiced against all in the African-American race.

Was the shooting of Michael Brown...an act of racism?  The facts are not yet established. True...there are reportedly four witnesses...who say the Ferguson policeman wickedly murdered the teenager...and left his lifeless body on a street of his hometown for four hours...following allegations of a low-level crime.  And then...what about the release - by the Ferguson Police Department - of the convenience store video?  It was undoubtedly circulated and publicized to besmirch a victim of a deadly shooting...by attempting to tarnish Michael Brown...even after he was dead.  Revealing those images - those video pictures - was very, very wrong.  And all it did...was cause an incendiary effect...throughout Ferguson, Missouri...and elsewhere in the United States.

That video was a postmortem character assassination.  Even if Michael Brown - in the convenience store - had committed a minor crime...he did not deserve to die.  He did not deserve to be shot six times.  Brown's mother and father did not deserve to lose their son over a box of cigars that cost forty-eight dollars and ninety-nine cents.

Why?  Why?  Why would a Ferguson, Missouri police officer think that because he wears a badge on his chest that he could shoot dead an unarmed teenager - and all because of the alleged stealing of a box of cigars?  That is beyond the heavy use of force.

In the United States...there are an extreme amount of troubled relationships between white people towards black people.  There is too much hostility towards black Americans because of their skin color.  Is the United States going back in time to before the Civil Rights Act...to before Malcolm X ...

to before Martin Luther King, Jr.?

Young African-American males are immediately thought of as bad when there is suspicious activity...and the wrong response is the automatic dispatch of squad cars with cops and guns.  Ferguson, Missouri is not the only municipality in the United States to corner the market on tension between the police and the people of America's cities, towns and villages.  Other communities where there is an imbalance between the number of police officers who are white and the population of citizens who are black suffer the same tension.  It is criminal that black teenagers...especially black teenage boys - unlike white teenage boys - are fearful of what could happen to them...walking to the local candy store or shopping mall.  There are a multitude of bigoted racists in America...and what has happened in Ferguson, has inflamed black people...and white people...in other areas of the United States.

And what about another policeman in Ferguson...who was threatening a protester...and who spewed profanity...as he pointed and waved a semi-automatic assault rifle at one young man in the crowd?  The cop was videotaped as he shouted, "I will f---ing kill you."  The officer has rightfully been relieved of duty.

It should be noted, however, that the unrest in Ferguson...and the friction between its citizens and the police...are not the norm with police departments nationwide.  There are a myriad of stellar law enforcement officers all across the U.S.A. who have distinguished themselves for serving and protecting the people of their communities.  They have been properly trained and they treat the citizens of their towns in an appropriate fashion.  They are good cops.  And they are here to help us when we need them.

But what about Ferguson, Missouri?  Was it racism to have military tanks rolling up on to the streets of this tiny suburb of St. Louis...with guns aimed at kids?  There may be times for such armored action and police officers with SWAT gear...but as a first response...no way.  I, therefore, have this question. If Michael Brown was white...would the order by the Ferguson Police Department have been the same?  I doubt it.  No...I don't think so.

So where are we with race relations in the United States of America?  Clearly...certain white cops throughout the country are racially harassing black people.  And where are we - around the globe - with people of one kind hating people of another kind?  I venture to say there isn't any decent American who hasn't been disturbed and horrified by the appalling beheading of U.S. journalist James Foley by the heinous terrorist group, ISIS.  There is outrage worldwide.  And the carnage and bloodshed of Jews in Israel - including the butchery of young boys and girls - are acts of hatred.

Bigotry and hatred are cancers that must be cured.  But chemotherapy and radiation won't eradicate these deadly diseases of epidemic proportion.  No surgical procedure will change the minds of bigots and haters.

So what do we do?  How do we as Americans - how do people all around the world - end the hatred and bigotry throughout the planet Earth?  I have no idea.  Perhaps...God only knows.  And maybe...He doesn't know either.

And that's The Controversy for today.

  1. How can you compare ISIS and Hamas to a police officer in Ferguson? When you say “ISIS...HAMAS...AND THE BIGOTS OF AMERICA” are you calling the cop a BIGOT? We don’t have the facts in this case and you are already judging the officer. The crime Brown may have committed was not as you stated “theft of a box of cigars” but “strong arm robbery” which in Missouri without a weapon can get you up to 20 years in prison. We do not know the facts; all we know is that an 18 year old 6’4” tall weighing close to 300 lbs who is on tape committing a felony was shot and killed by a police officer. Is the cop a bigot, we don’t know, did he feel his safety was in danger, as one witness claims “after beating him in the face and then charging at him” we don’t know or is he a bigot that shot the kid for being black, we don’t know! You make the comment “riddled the young man with six bullets” well private autopsy revealed that the first four shots were to the arm and Dr Baden who did the autopsy said in an interview that with Michael Brown’s size and weight if he was charging the officer those first four shots to the arm wouldn’t have even slowed him down. Maybe that is what the officer was doing shooting for a non-lethal area and only then when he didn’t slow down aimed for the head. We don’t know! You state “tragically there are still people in our country - a great quantity of people in our nation - who disgustingly believe... if your skin color is black...or brown...you are different...you are not equal to those whose bodies are encased by white skin..and you are bigots” I will never say there are no bigots in this country but I differ with you on your statement “a great quantity”
What makes you think the following: “That video was a postmortem character assassination. Even if Michael Brown - in the convenience store - had committed a minor crime...he did not deserve to die. He did not deserve to be shot six times” . How about that the media always says they want the facts, the family and supporters of Brown were pushing the fact that he was a good kid that a cop shot for no reason. Well the tape shows he was not a good kid, and may have been guilty of “strong arm robbery” not a minor crime as you put it and could have been sentenced to up to 20 years (more likely if this was a first offence 5-10). No character assassination just putting out the facts.
To go back to the beginning: to put ISIS and Hamas and the small amount of racism in America in the same category is disgraceful and beneath any journalist. Calling a police officer that you don’t know anything about or the facts of the case a Bigot is once again liberal race baiting and name calling.

  2. The "Bigots Of America" - in the title of my commentary - was not to refer to the police officer in question, but the overall bigotry that is obvious in Ferguson, Missouri and other cities and towns across the United States. If you truly believe that there is - as you say - "a small amount of racism in America" then you need to open up your eyes and ears because tragically you are sadly mistaken. Unfortunately, there are - as I wrote in my column - "a great quantity of people in our nation" who are racists, who are bigots, who are prejudiced not only against blacks, but against other minorities - whether for reason of race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation and a variety of other reasons. But I did ask - which you don't seem to acknowledge - "Was the shooting of Michael Brown an act of racism?" And I stated - "The facts are not yet established." And as for the overall media who you say have said - "a good kid that a cop shot for no reason" - I never wrote that in my piece. Don't lump me in with others who you believe are "Calling a police officer that you don’t know anything about or the facts of the case a bigot." I have in no way been a part of - as you say "liberal race baiting and name calling." As for my title - I was not making a comparison between "ISIS, HAMAS AND THE BIGOTS OF AMERICA." I was asking - as I did with the first line of my column - "Is there any justice in the world?" I suppose we'll just have to wait and see. GBD

    1. Oh and one more very vital fact that I nearly forgot to re-mention in my response to you above - which I focused on in my original column - and that is...Michael Brown was unarmed. He was shot to death by a police officer after the teenager allegedly stole a box of cigars while he himself was unarmed. I repeat - the 18-year old was killed - shot to death - but he had no gun. He was unarmed. Also note that the United States Department of Justice announced late yesterday (September 3rd, 2014) that it is launching a complete CIVIL RIGHTS investigation to probe the Ferguson, Missouri Police Department about the shooting of Michael Brown. Published reports confirm that the DOJ will look at the training and practices of the Ferguson Police including patterns of stops, arrests and use-of-force by the cops in that city. GBD

    2. so you are saying that when you run into a 6'4" 300 lb. guy in some dark parking lot and he starts punching you in the face that if you were to shoot him in self defense that you are guilty because the other person didn't have a gun but you did? wow... talk about out of touch with reality. you don't get out much do you?

    3. We're talking about a police officer wearing a badge...not me. Besides...you seem to not acknowledge that I am NOT talking about EVERY police officer. In my commentary, I specifically stated..."It should be noted, however, that the unrest in Ferguson...and the friction between its citizens and the police...are not the norm with police departments nationwide. There are a myriad of stellar law enforcement officers all across the U.S.A. who have distinguished themselves for serving and protecting the people of their communities.
